Why do we need to cash in? We will basically be getting the equivalent cash and not having to disrupt the squad at all via the Gyokeres sale. We’ll hopefully get a smattering of cash by selling Simms and a couple of others. Really don’t think we should be getting rid of our one RB.

Because that's the strategy, buy players with potential, develop them, sell them at a profit before they run down their contract and reinvest the money in more such players. It's how Crewe worked it for years only we've a much bigger budget than a small club like them.

Will we never learn.

Sell your best players to be replaced with just average players.

But let's be honest. Hes been pants this season.

If we can get 10million quid for a bloke who had 1 good season I'd be taking it. Start the summer rebuild early

Would also mean we can look to keep Haji, as Sheaf will also go for 5 or 6 million in the summer

It would be nice to get a replacement in for him before we let him leave, might be quite a novelty for us to do things properly for a change

It’s a team effort, we’re clearly not functioning as well as last season and to me, it’s tactical / coaching.

COH hasn’t pulled up trees at Sheff U and with Rudoni having a higher goals and assist output, it hasn’t been a massive loss.

The Sakamoto-MVE has been overhyped, they had a good spell together but they’re inseparable. I could see MVE benefitting playing behind EMC who’s a lot more aggressive running at players.

MVE is at his best when he’s getting the ball in space and too often he was getting the ball in traffic on Saturday.

So EMC on the right? He can play there, although stronger on the left. If everyone was fit I’d like to see an EMC - Wright - Tats front 3.

Doesn’t matter. Tackling is no longer part of the game.

There is plenty of tackling just a clamp down on tacking that is reckless or when the player is not in control.

Simms signed 7th July 2023 and as you say Gyokeres left on the 13th July but I believe Robbins wanted Simms to play alongside Gyokeres.

People are talking about his performances and his link up play with Saka not being what it was.
(Also Saka's performances)
At their peak last season there was an additional factor that is not present this season.
(Not banging on about him like others) But that factor is O'Hare.
The triangles and what COH did in terms movement, occupying players and his quickness in moving the ball, was a key factor in how well that side of the pitch performed at its peak last year.

Did he fuck. He hardly ever played Van Ewijk and Saka in. He turned and went across the box into no mans land away from his support players

Well the only players you mentioned were Van Ewijk and Saka. Then O'Hare's triangles. So you certainly alluded to it.

No way we sell one of our best players and only RB in January, and I wouldn’t trust this recruitment team with the money we’d get for him if we did, he’s struggling because sakamotos been found out this season. Teams double up on him, it’s hard for MVE to get forward like last season, like to see Raphael get a few mins, bit more direct than saka, loves to run at players,

I feel Raphael is the wildcard for the 2nd half of the season. Very direct winger. Hopefully start to see him get some minutes because he’s been impressing in training,

I was expecting to see him yesterday for the last 5 mins or so when Saka was tiring/ineffective and we needed a spark or injection of pace.

Hopefully we get to see him soon.

I do wonder if we could adequately replace him for the money we are likely to receive right now, let alone fund improvements elsewhere. He stock was quite high after the Man U game where he looked every inch a PL player. This season - less so.

No doubt Dean Austin will have identified some quality replacements though. I presume we have moved on from Camera.

I admire your optimism. Personally I’m hoping FL is pushing for his own guy in that role or will be insisting on much more say in the process.

I’d be the opposite.

Sheaf has given us much more than MVE has over the time they’ve both been with us.

Milan has frustrating potential but hasn’t consistently shown it whereas Sheaf quietly delivers

MVE used to have the freedom to roam about up front. Because of our crap defence he now has to hold back otherwise it leads to a big gap at the back. Once we have someone dependable on the right of defence that has more pace than a snail, that is unless we get someone like McFadz who can read the game, should be given the freedom to go forward again.

Don’t know how it’s moved to Simms but he absolutely needs to play as our starter. He’ll benefit from starting and gaining confidence and Norman will benefit from the tired legs he’d be up against.

Selling MVE in the January window would be short sighted to me. Many of our supporters live in cuckoo land thinking it is easy to just pluck out a quality replacement (think Hamer). We need to bear in mind that his predecessors in this league were Dabo, Da Costa and Kane! If we need to sell I would rather at least wait until the Summer when there might be more competition for him, creating a higher fee than we can probably expect right now.

If we can get a high fee in January and we can bring in Lampard’s preferred additions now rather than next summer then I’m ok with it.

That's fine if we have the choice, but the reality is that a bigger club decides when it wants to recruit, and if it offers money in January, because that's when it needs the player, you either accept, it or lose the sale.

If any one offers £5million next week, (just for example) big Doug will dress up as santa and personally deliver him.

Surely it’s all just dependent on price. If we can get £8-10m, then we’ll surely sell.

Good player, but we need to start recouping some of our outlay. Wright and Sheaf could well go in the summer too, and we’re facing a rebuild again. No bad thing, but have to get it right this time.

€12 million euros and it's a done deal, anything less isn't worth it.

We saying MVE, Wright and Sheaf are the next to go, where does that leave us as a club, honestly you're left with EMC, Sakamoto and Simms are your best players. That's a shit squad imo.

We need to be keeping Wright, MVE or Wright and Sheaf. Move on MVE and put your hand in your pocket Doug.

You trying to sell us the promotion dream bullshit, yet our key players are forever linked away to other clubs, clubs that we shouldn't be selling to if we are serious about getting out of this division ie Shef United.

O'Hare is a prime example, he's moved on to a club competing at the very top, why is it we can't even keep hold of a player leaving for a club in our own division?

If we are to get out of this division, EMC, Wright, Sheaf, MVE, Sakamoto, Simms, Dovin and Bidwell are integral to our push, the rest of our squad needs rebuilding with more quality. We don't sell our best fucking players to do this Doug, you get your cheque book out and spend.

Show some intent and next season, you might find season ticket sales stay the same.

Shef Utd offered O'Hare a much bigger wage and a better chance to get back to the PL.

We should have done the same mate, why is Shef a better option?

If we offered O'Hare like for like wages, our squad Dovin, MVE, Bidders, Sheaf, Sakamoto, O'Hare, Rudoni, EMC, Wright and Simms

That's a top handful of players, yes the rest of our squad is shite but that 10 there is top draw.

Instead we let him walk, it's not good enough and we are not going anywhere with that mentality.

Bidwell? Haha

I get what you’re saying but we’re playing a different strategy.

Ultimately if this current squad doesn’t improve dramatically this season we have to cash our chips in on 2 or 3 of them. You then have to reinvest and go again.

What is disappointing is how many poor signings we appear to have made. Though, I think the speed and scale of our recruitment has been a contributing factor to that.
