More now from Ben Wallace.

On the subject of refugees, the UK defence secretary acknowledged the UK needed to do more to address the situation of Ukrainians arriving in Calais, some of whom have been told they need to travel back to Paris or Brussels to apply for a visa.

"We need to do more," he said. "We need to upscale it. I know that the home secretary has already doubled, or trebled in some cases, more people in different processing centres."

He said the government's compassion was "huge" and would result in hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians coming to the UK.

"It's not the case that we are only allowing 300 people in, it is the case that the system has not been quick enough, which is what we're going to address."

Not good but addresses and acknowledges it’s rubbish

I used to love KFC in my pre vegetarian days.

Hardly ever eat in McDonald's (maybe twice in the last 10-15 years)

My fast food of choice is Leon's. More expensive, but everything I have ever had from there has been nice.

Apart from the occassional urgent requirement for taking a shit, I don't use McDonalds, KFC, Starbucks & the like...... grubby lukewarm food & shit coffee that is bad for me, bad for the environment & also the UKs major source of street litter......but it will be interesting to see if a boycott gets any traction.....

I won't hold my breath.

We'd be doing Russia a favour by essentially banning it for them.

System is historically slow.
Even outside of a conflict it is not easy for Brits wanting to return home to bring their "foreign" wives/partners and children into the country.
Brits were stranded in the Ukraine because they wouldn't leave their wives/partners and children behind and the consular staff were long gone.

I can't believe there are those out there that actually believe we are an easy touch. It's incredibly difficult to get people into the UK for even short term official business.

Suspect the people who would actually boycott off the back of this already don't go to those places for the reasons you listed.

It's madness now, people threatening to boycott just because companies haven't made a statement...

I get if Ronald McDonald was supplying arms to Russia.

Pipe down you pricks.

Just seen Deborah Meaden is going on about it, have all of her businesses she invested in stopped Shipping to Russia?

Slightly off topic, but this is something else I've considered and would be harder to overcome than energy IMO, due to the land requirements (and assuming said land is suitable).

Think it's possible but farming would be totally different, relying on hydroponics in high-rise/skyscrapers which are pretty much just massive greenhouses. Can grow more in the same space and have less wastage of water and get maximum yield by giving exactly the right nutrients to each plant and also if necessary light and heat. A lot of plants don't actually require soil, it's just a means for them to extract water and nutrients.

Would be come a lot easier as people move to a less meat-heavy diet.

Its more the fact they are still trading, their shops are still open & they are still making profit in Russia.....

Even mega-cuntish morally bankrupt global giants like BP are closing their petrol stations & ceasing trading there....

.......but despite this pressure, despite the tragedy unfolding, its still currently profit over people for cunts like Mcdonalds & Starbucks.....

Fuck all to do with wokery, and if you have to result to bullying your staff and screaming and swearing at them, then you're a shit manager, frankly and ought to be out on your ear.

Priti Patel is a frightening combination of incompetent and uncaring. Don't blame the people under her for this shit show - responsibility, other than with this government, starts at the top.

Wokery my arse, stop making excuses for this pathetic excuse of a minister.

I'll take them off you. Not at the expense of having to flee my country in terror however, to be met by a bunch of unsympathetic wankers with a narrow-minded outlook that means they move at a snail's pace to help those in need, however.

Mmm touched a nerve there - ok wokery comment was an add on - the whole Home office does need a complete overhaul with its procedures - in order to do that it needs someone to be pretty firm -no place for bullying but we haven’t got all century - some if the incumbents may be from Oxbridge but you need content experts and not just project managers

Isn't it weird how coffee has become so bloody trendy these days, particularly to be see carrying around with you when walking around the shops. It's like a fashion accessory.

The meat diet is the big one. Human’s only consume directly 55% of all crops grown in the world, the rest pretty much is animal feed. There’s actually countries in Africa that grow crops for animal feed that’s mostly exported while they don’t grow enough crops to feed themselves. If everyone turned vegetarian overnight we could actually start reforesting in this country. Even more so if we all went vegan. Dairy farming both cow juice and chicken eggs as well as chicken farming itself is the most unethical and polluting farming going.
