Yeah it's coming up to 'mud season'

That convoy is going very far any time soon, which I think explains why Ukraine haven't bombed it - they've got more pressing issues for their air force to deal with

You'd have to imagine it's reasonably well defended, but even if they're not being picked off on an occasional basis it's got to impact morale and efficiency.

Not much food, not much water, always cold and nowhere comfortable to sleep. And most of all, not moving forward. That's going to wear down even dedicated soldiers, let alone teenage conscripts.

You have to wonder what would happen if Ukraine could somehow put together an attacking threat.

All that said, it's still hard to see Russia losing this in a direct military sense.

I was wondering if planes etc could be reliveried to be Ukranian and sent to help. You know Putin would play this as Western military involvement and an act of war.

Necessary to allow Ukrainians the best chance though.

There was talk of this a few days ago. At the time it was thought that Turkey gifted planes to Ukraine. They were all fighters. It was suggested that the Ukraine pilots would need a few days to gen up on the controls etc..

You’re 100% right. People are moaning about Boris’s and Britains response but we have led the way in support for Ukraine to see off the Russain invasion and Russia well know this.
Compare Boris’s actions to those of Macron, the wannabe leader of Europe, and to the initial silence in the main from the Germans and like it or not, Boris has shown Europe the way on supporting Ukraine.
Ive got my Tinfoil hat at the ready for the whatabouttery onslaught.

I think a distinction needs to be made between words and actions. Boris is very good at telling people he's going to do stuff, then not doing it. They deliberately held back when the sanctions are going to be introduced, almost certainly to allow the individuals involved to get their money and assets out.

You don't need a tinfoil hat mate. We've done some good things without doubt, but it's obvious we're miles behind the EU in applying sanctions.

We're also not exactly making it easy for refugees from the conflict to come here.

You can debate the reasons why that might be, but the facts themselves don't seem to be beyond dispute.

Creating the conditions? We’re supposed to be free, sovereign and democratic nations free to self determine our direction. If we’re dancing to Putins tune we are none of those things.

Ukraine's army is using a nimble 'game-changing' drone called The Punisher that has completed scores of successful missions against the Russians, say reports

Developed by Ukrainian veterans, say reports, the light drones, invisible to radar, carries a 3kg of explosives to strike the Russian forces.

I'm afraid I've got to disagree with you there, here's the dictionary definition of 'nuance':

a subtle difference in or shade of meaning, expression, or sound.

Maybe it's a bit too 'subtle' a word for you, but it definitely has meaning.

I think you missed the fact there was an OR in the definition.

The narrative coming from Russia. Accusing the Ukranianians of using the citizens of Maripol as human shields amongst the usual rhetoric about ridding the country of Nazis.

That is such a weird opinion. I'm sorry if the English language upsets you, but you know what, there are lots of different words that mean similar things - who made you the dictionary police?

Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it pretentious. I could just as well say you're being pretentious by saying 'subtle' instead of 'small' or 'minor', but it would be just as daft.

FFS man, there's enough stuff to discuss here without getting upset about an actual word that has a perfectly clear meaning - get over yourself.

I was almost too polite to point out the obvious typos in his post, or the excessive use of emojis to try to make a point too, which always feels a bit childish to me.

In truth though, who really cares about someone's writing style or spelling on a football forum. Just a bit odd, frankly, so I'll move on...

well here’s not much of a nuance for you and it’s not subtle - would you trust a Marxist like Starmer who was anti nato now pro nato and was opposed to every single war including Afghanistan

Keir Starmer’s cynical embrace of Nato is a sad sight indeed | Lindsey German

The Labour leader accused us of backing Putin by opposing war in Ukraine. He knows he’s wrong, says Lindsey German, convenor of the Stop the War coalition

Apologies if this has already been discussed but the BBC reporting that

Poland might be sending planes to Ukraine. Now I'm not sure whether that means they'll take off from Polish airfield with Ukrainian pilots but I'm assuming that would be the case. Apparently they are Migs which the Ukrainian pilots are familiar with . The planes given by Poland will be replaced by aircraft from the US.

I'm sure Putin won't be happy with that. That surely might escalate the situation somewhat if it's really true.

They've already received lots of arms from various countries, so I'm not sure it's much different.

The anti tank weapons they've received have annihilated hundreds and hundreds, probably thousands, of vehicles already.
