Where did I again say there would be no more deaths?

What is this? The example of Labour breakfast clubs in primary school actually in operation in an afternoon?

In which case your regular mewling about the continued death and destruction is what? Concern trolling?

Not the point I was making. I was referencing your mention of Ukraine's 'hostilities' which makes it sounds like they are the agressor.

Yet you accuse others of not caring about deaths.

It's funny how often you tie yourself in knots.

edit: beaten to it

Saving circa 2000 lives a week according to US estimates.

What is the cost to Russia of ending the conflict tomorrow?

I don’t live in Russia. The Russian economy doesn’t create taxation policies which impact me

No - I’ve said this war is pointless and those who continue to back it are just obligated oblivious to the death and destruction it’s caused.

If the West had stayed out of it and contributed nothing - as it didn’t with Crimea - a lot of parents would still have their sons alive today

Had we stayed out of it Ukraine would have ceased to exist and it’s not a guarantee that Putin would have been merciful afterwards. Your message appears to be that bigger countries have the right to swallow up smaller ones.

That being the case I assume you see no issue with American threats against Canada

Putin could do that right now by ordering his forces to stop attacking.

In the end there is one discussion here from a uk perspective

This country economically from what i am seeing is in a crises. Demand in the sector I work in is as low as I’ve known it since I’ve been in it and on top of that we are getting punitive measures against business which will cause job losses and business closures.

Against that backdrop should the UK be increasing defence budgets and spending billions on Ukraine?

I say no. What do others say?

I don’t think I’ve read anything as stupid as this but let’s go with it.

Donald Trump invades Canada and declares it as a 51st state. He bombs many cities in Canada and imprisons any opposition.

What would you as PM of the Uk do in that situation?

Ultimately you may have to accept the reality that just as you profess not to care about the geopolitical ramifications of a deadly war playing out in Europe, other people may not care about the ramifications of your particular small business failing.

The most stupid post in this thread was someone writing we should let Putin crack on with it.

In the scenario of the US attacking Canada, the NATO rules are pretty clear.

There isn’t any geopolitical ramifications of this conflict and hiking defence spending is another example of Trump getting Europe to dance its tune.

I’m loving the saltiness when you are mocked by the way. The sensitivity and thin skin is hilarious

“There isn’t any geopolitical ramifications of this conflict” (sic) Really?

Again, I know you’re very worried about your business going down the tubes - who wouldn’t be? - but you do have to acknowledge that the government may have other competing priorities.

But how long before the next one starts? Ukraine surrendering just emboldens Putin to take more countries. Should they then capitulate too? And at what point should countries stop surrendering? If he ended up working his way across Europe who should not give in in order to stop the conflict and prevent more deaths? Poland? Germany? France? UK? No-one?

But if Russia left Ukraine immediately then we wouldn't have to spend money on helping Ukraine.

So if in fact your problem is the cost to the UK taxpayer and the impact on businesses surely top of that list for the easiest win is Putin stopping invading is it not?

Just because he's a psychopath who won't doesn't matter - that would be the easiest and cheapest outcome.

No there aren’t.

Your interest in me is very touching but you have over the last couple of days banged on to @Mucca Mad Boys about how much a country should borrow and berate him for not answering.

Should we spend £3 billion a year on Ukraine or not?

If you truly believe that a land war in Europe has no geopolitical ramifications for the UK or its allies, then it would obviously be foolish to spend much of anything on Ukraine. But back in the real world…
