The Kharkiv offensive was another Putin strategic masterstroke:

Ahh okay, so now you want to move the goalposts.

Didn’t France famously use conscripts in Algeria and Vietnam? Both I’m sure in your lifetime.

Stalin didn't exactly broadcast what he was doing and the full extent of what happened wasn't discovered until many years later.

I said a little while back that Russian losses were not sustainable, and that was before the recent further increase in casualties.

Here is a good analysis on the same lines:

The Impact of Russian Losses on Combat Operations

tldr: Russian losses were greater than their conscription numbers last month. Equipment losses are even more of a concern for them. They know they’re running out of time so are pushing harder = even greater losses.

Maybe America had a cunning plan to draw them in…Then slaughter once the weapons arrive?

It looks like the economy isn’t going to collapse in the near future - Steve Rosenberg: Russia's economy is growing, but can it last? - it is the biased Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation though.

Maybe not the near future but it's having major implications for them longer term:

They do have another round of major tax rises coming in though because they’re running out of funding for the war. They’re lowering the threshold for high earners (which was only introduced in 2021) and introducing a new tax band for even higher earners. Economic growth is clearly not keeping pace with the cost of war.

There's not really any substance to that article.

Barely mentions why the economy is doing 'well', which is the key point.

Plus:

- No mention of Gazprom posting record losses (and their own report saying they won't get back to previous export levels till 2035).
- No mention of oil and gas revenues down 45% against pre war levels
- No mention of the 1.5 trillion ruble deficit for the first quarter of 2024

Also, did you even read to the end @Sick Boy before you started gloating?

But spend big on the military and there’s less to spend on everything else.

“Longer term, you are destroying the economy,”

I'm not gloating at all. I'm pointing out that the predictions from this thread about Russia being on the verge of collapse have been shown to be nonsense and is yet another reason why it shows the whole thing will be a stalemate unless the West get directly involved.

I've also read that there are the starting of families gathering to complain about the loss of relatives and family that they are suffering. It seems that more and more of the Russian people may be starting to see the bigger picture of what's going on.

Probably not so much of an issue when they're recruiting drunks and peasants from ethnic backgrounds in remote areas.

But if they start recruiting from the cities...

They have done a pretty good job of managing it, credit where it's due.

But it's a bubble that is going to burst.

And it's just funny that you said "It looks like the economy isn’t going to collapse in the near future" and to prove it you posted an article saying "Unless this is resolved, Russia will have a financial crisis by the autumn.".

I'm pretty confident I could find a similar quote from someone who said the same thing a year ago.

Tony and PVA should set up a YouTube channel on the war. They really are experts who I’m sure would gain global respect on the subject.

Actually they should ring Putin direct. I’m sure he’d absorb the info and surrender.

I want it to stop. Without talks it never will. Egging on the US to use it as a proxy playground is supporting death and destruction.

If you want it to stop then please explain why Putin pulling the armed forces back to Russia wouldn't do that? Ukraine would be absolutely mad to chase them into Russia. How could the US use it as a proxy playground if Russia aren't invading anyone?

That's beside the point. Ukraine won't be giving in. The US won't stop using it as a means to undermine Russia either. So why ask for them when you know they're not going to happen?

You said you want it to stop. Russia stopping invading would do that. So surely that's something you support, whether Putin is likely to do it or not?

It obviously isn’t beside the point. It is the point. Discussing something that’s never happening is an irrelevance.

If Trump wins will the us continue the backing?

A piece on the incoming tax increases

Russia Is Preparing New Tax Hikes. Here’s Why. - The Moscow Times

Russia’s Finance Ministry submitted a major tax reform plan this week that seeks to introduce a progressive tax system and increase corporations’ contributions to the state budget. The reform, if passed, promises to generate nearly 3 trillion rubles ($33.2 billion) per year at a time when...

500k people is absolutely tragic.

I know Russia started the invasion n but it's Putin in reality. Some poor c**t sat in Rostov and packed off to the front to be fed into the meat grinder is horrible.

We, as a species, should have moved past all this by now.

Yeah it's grim. I saw an interview with a captured Russian soldier the other day who said he was recruited and told he was just going to the border for training.

Then they shipped him and a load of new recruits to the frontline with literally a couple of days training. On the first day in the front line only 12 of his roughly 100-strong company survived. Grim.

Putin only listens to moronic yes men who tell him what he wants to hear. Idiotic shit like Kyiv will fall in a matter of days, basically he surrounds himself with a bunch of grendulls.

No answer to the question though.

You want the war to stop, apparently. Russia fucking off out of Ukraine would stop the war. Therefore you must support this, yes?

Got nothing to do with what will or might happen, just what YOU think of that proposal hypothetically.
