So the US you finally admit are as evil as all other super powers and do not in reality give a fuck about Ukraine.

Wow we get there at last.

Good grief, you're missing the point (/can't read) as well.

Why? The OP was making a clear comparison between the behaviour of US an Russian soldiers. Again, only one poster thinks one group is at a picnic. If you want to point that out to anyone it’s them. Your direction is misdirection.

Your link is interesting though as a comparison, at least to events in Iraq and Afghanistan for that matter. Firstly these were isolated incidents, secondly they didn’t go unpunished. Compare that to the behaviour of Russian soldiers where firstly it’s clearly not isolated incidents and secondly they will go unpunished.

Was My Lai just one of many massacres in Vietnam War?

US atrocities were far greater in the Vietnam War than is normally acknowledged, writes investigative journalist Nick Turse

Fucking hell, I was half expecting it to be described as an “isolated incident”.

It was terrible and if it was happening in 2024 people wouldn't be looking the other way.

Your bringing up something from 56 years ago, if everything is just based on things that happened in the past there's not going to be many countries coming out looking good.

If your gran had balls would she be your grandad.

The lack of basic understanding. You do understand that the US has a democratically elected president who can serve the maximum of two terms? You can question their foreign policies all you like but to suggest that they’re despotic requires an intelligence bypass.

Oh I am really not.

You have admitted that you need a good guy and a bad guy in a conflict.

You are incapable of debate. How can anyone read something by someone who admits they have no concept of history, post dumb gifs all day and has zero comprehension as to what this war really is.

What is interesting now though is it seems its mostly you and Tony - a sad troll who spends his day posting off topic from Wiki and pretending he has knowledge on the subject - who still are holding firm.

Surely we need another twitter link from Kyiv?

I said incidents not incident. Big difference. Big difference.

Do you at least accept that rape is a norm for Russia soldiers?

It constantly happens - Guantanamo Bay was a legitimised internment camp for non convicted people. Torture planes exist now. Are you this naive?

Cool.

Carry on enjoying the Russian 'picnic' that is the rape and murder of innocent women and children. I wonder if they think it's a nice day out at the park.

‘A Poison in the System’: The Epidemic of Military Sexual Assault (Published 2021)

Nearly one in four U.S. servicewomen reports being sexually assaulted in the military. Why has it been so difficult to change the culture?

Honestly the fucking state of this thread.

Fucking pathetic stuff.

It’s what you would describe as a picnic in Ukraine.

Who do you think is in denial of the atrocities that the US committed in Vietnam exactly?

No one is defending it or diminishing it. Unlike you with the behaviour of Russian soldiers in Ukraine.

Ironically, it's the Russian way - whataboutism. After the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster, Russian media talked about Three Mile Island. It's their MO, and this is being used by some on this thread

Really the dumb act is not working on here anymore.

Still no US lives being lost now in Ukraine so brilliant strategy - you must be delighted.

You've just described the rape and murder of innocent women and kids as a 'picnic'.

I think you have issues.

Of course you can and should criticise Russia. However, it is true the US has and is doing things at least equally as bad. Doesn't make what Russia is doing acceptable though.

Well with respect as long as no US lives are lost in the making its fine by you.

Some of us want peace and a solution. You want more death and torture (as long as its not anyone in the US of course)

I have no desire for the conflict to continue. Many of us on here do not. Its obvious from the start you have found it all exciting.

Do you want a settlement and an end to the bloodlust then?

That's literally the point people are making!!

No it is not as you are now accepting the US strategy in this war to fight on a proxy battlefield and use Ukraine as a playground of death.

You are complicit with it.

Also…

Do you accept that standard practice of Russian soldiers is to rape and torture Ukrainian soldiers and civilians in Ukraine?

As I've said, unfortunately, it's a disgusting tactic that's not uncommon in war; it's not something that's isolated to Russia.

Hmmm, US does some bad shit but not sure about doing things ‘at least equally as bad’ as Russia

People do realise that Russia is run by a dictator who basically can’t be voted out whatever he decides to do ? He’s sent an estimated 500k of his own citizens to their slaughter and shows no sign of stopping. For what ?

Social media has got a lot to answer for

Agreed. It’s outrageous. But a PM or Presidents primary job is to protect their own citizens and as I said, Putin has sent upto 500k to their deaths in two years and it will carry on and there’s nothing anyone can do about it

Figures vary, most say around 100,000. Large numbers were killed in civil conflicts and as the result of the actions of insurgents.

I'll go with this, thanks - Iraqi Civilians | Costs of War - the whole thing was disgusting and shows what a farce it is with certain countries trying to take the moral high ground.
