Jesus fucking wept.

If Ukrainians are so desperate for peace talks why have they not just layed down their arms and allowed Russia in?

You seemingly do not understand the incredible levels of motivation to fight and willingness to defend their country that Ukrainians possess.

But then you've been utterly, embarrassingly, wrong throughout this conflict so I am surprised you fail to understand the situation. Again.

A decade later. Like between Crimea and now? Seems like death and destruction has got a bit bigger since then. Not a great advert for the policy that was supposed to placate him and stop any more bloodshed...

If you let him carry on what you'll have is a huge population unwillingly living under the iron rule of a despot while death and destruction rains down on the next bit of the USSR he wants back.

none of these are independent polls though are they? We all know Mr Zelensky is a somewhat corrupt person who controls the media - he was slated by the EU prior to the war for banning media outlets ge considered pro Russia - 3 in total.

So I guess any polls conducted by Russia you would ascribe equal legitimacy to?

Were these polls actually conducted in Ukraine and again the question really needs to be somewhat different does it not?

The point you and your chums on here miss is the actual outcome. You could ask would you rather be alive or dead?

Zelensky controls the Wall Street Journal has to be up there with Kenny Jacket for one of your more batshit statements on here.

Perhaps a consideration of the mentality of the Ukrainians and other former states merits your consideration?
The rush of many to join NATO was to try and insure they never fell under Russian control again.
The Ukrainian and Russian mentality on defending their homeland isn't so different. As a Russian expert you'll appreciate the regard they have for those that held off the Germans (at great cost) in defence of their homeland.

Yes exactly this.

Ukrainians aren't fighting because Zelensky and the West are making them. They aren't desperate for peace talks.

They are fighting because they have an incredible willingness to defend their country.

Wagner has apparently lost 30,000 men, a 50% casualty rate

Russia lost 1000 men yesterday. Astonishing numbers. If it continued at that rate (which to be fair it won't) their army would cease to exist in about 6 months.

Not a surprise. Zero training for those recruited from prison and sent to be cannon fodder - should be a war crime in its own right.

Yet people like dreamer BSB and shmeee think it’s akin to the german army of of the 30’s and is capable of sweeping across Eastern Europe

Which is it?

If the Russians had succeeded early on with their invasion then it might well have been. Especially with the smaller Balkan states.
Putin has made no secret of his desire to reunite the ussr.

Worth considering these numbers are whilst Russian politicians are pushing for these troops to advance. When Ukraine has to push to retake territory in these areas their casualty rates will also escalate.

But he’s tried and he probably got a lot closer to taking kiev early on than people realise. Had he done it he certainly wouldn’t have stopped at the Ukraine.
Its a credit to the armed services and public of Ukraine that that have stood up to the Russian atrocities against its people.

He knows exactly how Russians think but we can't take a judgement on how Ukrainians think despite numerous surveys telling us because Zelensky controls the Wall Street Journal.

I think that's the gist of it.

As usual a misrepresentation of facts. I mean let’s look at your views on this one:

Let Putin crack on with it
Zelensky is bad for conscripting Ukrainians to fight
Zelensky should surrender to Putin and then Putin will agree to negotiate some of the territory back

I assume you worked out that most people looking at it would be sympathetic to Ukraine so saw the chance for a bit of wumming. That FP genuinely believes the same things was an unforeseen bonus

Oh dear you are once again Shmmees ventriloquist dummy.

The Washington post survey wants a result to underpin its strategy - ok the one hand BSB is saying ban the free press - now it seems it’s coming in rather handy

I was the first one on here to say the invasion was going disastrously for Russia and you asked where I was getting that from as no one else was saying it. So that's not what I do is it?

And you absolutely love giving your new buddy FP a like so what point are you even trying to make here.

I don't know why you find it so hard to believe that Ukrainians would rather fight for their country than sit down for peace with the people murdering their families and compatriots.

Of course they would do but at some point there will come a time when they will have to negotiate if they want peace and anything to be left of the country afterwards.
