It's getting very cold in parts of Ukraine over the next week or so, not going to be fun for anyone but the Russians in particular will suffer badly you'd imagine

ground frost will set in then things will start moving again. nothing can move offroad atm and there aren't many roads. It's a fact that Russian troops are undersupplied already and going to especially difficult for the large number of conscripts/non-full time troops.

Ukraine operating same as most of Eastern Europe did/does. A large historical black economy. Corruption is systemic rather than political ie didn't matter what type of political party in charge they were all at it.
Has been improving but major sticking point the judiciary that has blocked many reforms.
My experiences doing business there was cash was often needed to ensure efficiency rather than facilitate illegal activity.

Indeed, and just for a little context here the UK Government seems to have somehow lost around 4bn in useless PPE contracts and is awarding multiple Lordships to Tory donors (some with KGB contacts of course).

Endemic political corruption? Hello Pot, have you met Kettle?

Interesting. There’s been a bit of Russian partisan action before, but I wonder if Ukraines got the long range stuff they wanted. Wouldn’t be the first time they’ve had stuff in the field before announcements. Wasn’t there a “mystery plane” that bombed the Russians in Syria or somewhere as well? Maybe a little cheeky interference from allies?

The only thing about that is if they did have the long range capabilities you’d hope they’d be a bit more accurate or cause more destruction than just damaging a couple of bombers and blowing a petrol tank up.

Perhaps special forces or a few rogue operators who’ve got over the border? Or is that too many Rambo films?

Think that may be correct, any firing of a missile system into Russia would stop the supply of them from the rest of the world.

Anything that threatens your country from another is a legitimate target.

Im guessing either special forces or sympathetic Russians. If it was a missile you’d expect it to be shot down or at least blatantly obvious where it came from

The Ukrainians used drones apparently. Also blew up fuel tanks at the airport as well.

If an attack comes from Belarus I think it's going to change things considerably.

How so?

There still won't be enough (well trained) troops/ammunition/supplies.

Zelensky currently in the USA. All feels a bit weird.

Saw a report of how much money has been given to the Ukraine by them, and it is eye watering. Second on the list was the UK. Given several billion pounds already. War really is an economy.

Do you think Ukraine are benefiting from being illegally invaded?

Churchill went to the USA numerous times during WW2 (when it used to take 10 days to get there!).

Military tech is eyewateringly expensive. As I’ve said before the Russians current tactic is throwing hundreds of drones that cost a couple of grand at cities each needing AA missiles that cost hundreds of thousands each

Still an absolute bargain for the likes of the US to weaken Russia though.

Seems to be a popular opinion on the right, especially the far right. That and it’s the EU’s/NATO’s fault. Which is especially odd given it would be Ukraine’s sovereign right as an independent and democratic country to join any organisation they like. Funny how all of a sudden sovereignty shouldn’t be an aspiration. Maybe it’s because it would be real sovereignty, not the phoney sovereignty they like to gaslight.

Arms dealers and people who will rebuild probably, same as any war. Politically obviously the West. None of this is a secret or a reason not to support Ukraine.
