Coventry City defender Stuart Urquhart has agreed to terminate his contract with the football club by mutual consent.

The 19-year old signed for the club in September 2013 and featured the Under-21s side last season.

Stuart leaves with the club's best wishes for the future.

Finch and Willis ahead of him at CB, can't see a route into the first team for him. Probably for the best. Pressley said he wasn't ready for the first team last week and considering we are in L1, you'd expect at 19 a decent player to be there or thereabouts......

 Have all of the early SP signings (or the 13/14 SP signings) fallen by the wayside now bar Webster? Manset, Slager, Urquhart, Seabourne? Saying that, we were seriously desperate last season following the embargo etc...

The caliber of signing has certainly improved in recent weeks. Reda, O'Brien, Swanson, Tudgay, Pugh and now Johnson shouldn't be sniffed at. Most would get in a Championship team in my opinion, certainly one in the lower reaches.

Either that or there was a clause to pay rangers if he made first team appearances ...

Their definitely must be someone coming in during the next few days, who would be ahead of him too, so sounds like he wants to play football, but we cannot guarantee him a place.

Urquhart leaving makes no difference, he wasn't anywhere near the first team and has barely even made the bench in the past 12 months despite us having a small squad and Pressley willingness to trust the young players.

Or their could be different reasons, not going to fulfill the potential / club moving in different direction wanting more experienced established players/ lack of first team opportunities due to other players kicking on?

Would not of been on much, hardly going to see the difference.

Already came out and admitted he was let down by several parties involved in the process of bringing players into the club last year, with several of the loan signings making him feel betrayed once signed.

He looked decent when I seen him play! Albeit not very often.

Maintain it is worrying how many SP signings have gone on to leave already!

I thought he was meant to be the next big thing? SP was probably told this lad will be the next colin Hendry.

Pressley basically acknowledged last seasons recruitment was extremely poor, when he came I think he said there was one scout at the club. Now he has teams in several places in England and Scotland.

I'm prepared to let last seasons dealings slide at the moment as he was hampered by embargo and then desperation to get strikers in when Wilson and Clarke were unavailable, if this seasons signings are poor again then it will be extremely disappointing.

We have a few who you would think not on much but they all add up, having watched Daniels against Cardiff he should be following him out of the door.

Thing is, with the number of players signing 1 year deals (and the few out of contract in 12 months time) we could end up with another brand new Xi at the start of next season. Can't help but think this season is a bit all-or-nothing re: promotion.

And being CCFC, chances are it'll be nothing.

Could well work in our favour if we win promotion as a few of these players although good at this standard have not cut it at a higher level

100% of signings carry a 50% risk of failing to fulfil what was expected of them.

We were desperate for numbers last year. Urquhart was a gamble for the future. He hasn't come off, but has gone freeing up a wage.

Still building our squad, rom for further signings and loans if necessary. Some need to Stop being so melodramatic!

A high turnover of free agents & trial lists shouldn't matter as long as the results are good. Those on one year contracts want away if/when they have a good year to clubs higher on the food chain. That's just the way of life for a League One club. It should change with promotion.

@ Hobo.........Why is it being melodramatic? What it is, is fact. It's a given, that managers make mistakes with signings, but SP is making much more than his fair share of "Mistakes" Slager, Seabourne, Urquhart, Manset, to name but a few? If the truth be known, Baker is being "Frozen out" not because of ability, or age, but because of wages, nothing more. His "Bomb Squad" from last year could, and should have been handled better. This year, Murphy stated he wanted to stay at Coventry and take a wage cut, was "Let Walk" by SP. Why? I'm beginning to think he's having his strings pulled.

And with everyone saying give them time to bed in the season could be over by then, that is the frightening thing.

We cant do this every season it has been proved you don't win anything by keep changing your teams or managers every season.

Were they really mistakes or risks? Seaborne came in when we needed a body at the back, we have since switched to a new formation and replaced him with what we all think is a better player in Johnson, Zlager and Manset, looks as though there is talent there however the application was sadly willing. Manset especially disappointed me with his attitude, we needed him after Xmas, and he had already took the hump and not bothered in training. However he seemed to think that he deserved a place in the starting line up ahead of Clarke and Wilson.

The bomb squad was more of a statement of intent, designed to show that no longer would we allow our players to be comfortable, it needed to be shock and awe, to get rid of pro's who were coasting....

As for Baker and Murphy, yes its clearly down to wages.....

It is possible to bring a youngster in with "potential" to then turn out poor. So if that is the case then off he goes. Simple. Back in the day a 19 year old would be shipped out on loan but nowadays, Clubs like us need and rely on Academy players coming through and he wasn't upto the standard in SP eyes so he has done the right thing.
