I'm looking at the 3rd photograph and the bomb disposal is not wearing protection.
He also appears to to have lost the lower part of his right arm previously.
That's what you'd call ballsy .

He appears to be using a geiger-counter to test for radioactivity.
The bomb might have already been taken away.
