Just looking at the table this morning and I got wondering about the starts to our seasons over the years. Can anyone ( is Jim Brown out there ? ) say when we last went 5 games unbeaten at the beginning of a season and what our longest unbeaten start is ?

I’m guessing under Boothroyd. What’s that, 10 years ago?

EDIT: just looked. We lost the 4th league game that season, but also lost in the cup in our 2nd game! So not that season (it was 9 years ago).

Lost in our 9th league game under Bobby Gould about 25 years ago. Three games later, he quit after the QPR drubbing.

First season of Prem wasn't a bad start for us, as I (vaguely) recall. So good in fact that the club released a half season review video in time for the Xmas market!

It was the 1993/1994 season, with two wins and three draws. Despite the good start, we ultimately finished the season in 11th place, with Peter Ndlovu as our top scorer. So 26 years since we last did it

Wasn't that DD's debut? Or maybe we signed him almost immediately after?

As the poster above says we went 8 games unbeaten in the league at the start of that season

I think you might be right, I think it was his debut.

Going back to the JH days we were newly promoted into the then second division and won the first 5 games to top the league, including away wins at Bolton and Ipswich both just relegated from the top flight.
We lost the next 5.

Thought Phil Neal signed Dion, his debut was at QPR, he scored our equaliser.

I think I was there for that if it’s the same game. We played in our purple/yellow away kit?

And then won just one of our next nine games. Same old City.

One of our fastest starts was away at Everton when we went 2-0 up in 4 minutes (1 was Alderson?)
