Because of England’s defence…the rest is comparable.

How are we getting the basics so wrong as often as this? They're not the most difficult of passes we're giving away either.

Despite a pretty poor overall performance, silver lining; Bowen has looked good in his cameo so far.

My main concern is how long it took Southgate to react , again

Great save from Rajkovic to deny him tbf

Nah. He moved two steps to come across and the ball came more or less at him.

Kane has been absent all game. I still can't get my head around him at times as he's generally a great goal scorer.

Not sure about some of the decisions this ref gives.

Some good players , we have played terribly second half granted

Good players for sure…but shouldn’t be this tight.

Foden wins a vital free kick and 2 seconds later Serbia have it back? Kill the fucking clock

Based on his exploits for Bayern this season I’m inclined to lay the blame elsewhere, along with Foden’s poor display.

We've got to be smarter than that. Keep the ball, don't keep giving it away cheaply. It's not that difficult, lads.

Surely the main concern is that he wasn't fired after the last tournament?

Slovenia and Denmark will take advantage of this sloppiness. Serbia been too toothless and forgiving.

This is appalling.

Really bored of Southgate now tbh, I don't know how he manages to stifle such incredible attacking talent.

Well can’t see I’ve seen anything to suggest this tournament is going to be any different. Hopefully we will warm up

Tbf at the other end of the scale, some on here are absolutely desperate for us to fail.

Not a great performance however it's 3 points and hopefully we grow into the tournament, Southgate has to react faster to the game and if we are struggling , our game management has to be better

One of the worst games I’ve seen in a while and England will do well to get past the last 16 based on that. I’m amazed that some actually rate Southgate.

It was horrendous. Reminded me of one of the group games in the 2010 World Cup.

Can only hope we get better. We'll make the quarters, but that's where the real tournament begins. Will have to be much better.

Is Bellingham and Foden the new Lampard and Gerrard problem? Foden was anonymous and the only passes he made were 5 yards. Would rather have had Cole palmer on the patch than Foden

I really rate foden but he had a stinker today. I do think there are places in the same team though.

Pep would have them playing perfectly together at Man City. Southgate is a negative manager.

Yeah, it is. Really both want to be playing the same position. Wingbacks with a box formation would work well, but we'd lose Saka.
