How quickly do Spain close down with a press, compared to our lot.

That Spain goal was a replica goal of NL against France. Player stood in offside position in front of goalkeeper. Not ruled out here though.

No consistency.

Not sure why Spain goal was allowed but Netherlands goal in the group stage was ruled out.

Sort of but not quite, could argue he was standing impeding the keepers view but the France one the player was stood where the GK would probably have wanted to dive ( did think that was harsh as he didn't even look like he was set to dive)

I’m massively concerned that neither Southgate nor any of his coaching staff understand systems of play.

Indeed.

I am always happy when England win, but just aren't feeling it tonight.

Thought we were at best, tepid and at worst, clueless, slow and pedestrian.

I'll repeat what I said earlier. It's embarrasing. By winning today they've got away with it, but it was an utterly cowardly and pathetic performance. To come out and again behave like their so hard done by is what's causing all this resentment. I've heard people today actually wanting them to lose and it's not hard to see why.

Slovakia took their two best players off with 10 minutes left. It was a terrible decision and I called it at the time. They've had a habit of switching off at the last minute and we somehow managed to capitalise for a moment.

The interviews and reaction from team and manager are so out of touch it's unbelievable. We should be happy we won, but I'm pissed off with this ridiculous attitude.

He thinks the anger in the stands is aimed at the players…part of it is, but most is aimed at that clueless excuse of a manager.

So is it just Guehi that misses the quarters?

I'd imagine Konsa comes in as a like for like swap.

With how disjointed we've looked I'd be half tempted to move to a 3 at the back with Saka at LWB & TAA at RWB.

Anyway, yeah. We managed to get some width into our play when Saka went to LB but it coincided with Foden going to float around on the right hand side. Absolutely braindead.

I am confident all of Walker, Bellingham, Saka and Kane are carrying injuries at the moment but there’s a sheer lack of bravery to drop them.

What are you talking about? When Saka went to left back we were more shit than ever.

We scored a lucky goal in the last few seconds and part of that was due to Slovakia switching off. There really isn't anything more to it.

Given the (alleged) gulf in quality, that's genuinely one of the worst performances I've ever watched of any team at any level.

Zero shape or tactical awareness. Blushes spared by some good fortune & outrageous individual brilliance.

Thinking on it I’d rather have lost, might have brought home the scale of the issues. As it is well probably get to the semis wank Southgate off a bit about being the most successful manager ever and appoint some nobody to carry on the “work”.

Ultimately there’s no money to be won, the focus should be on entertainment as much as anything. People were genuinely happier giving it a go until the QFs than edging through to a final or semi. Next manager should reflect that, get someone who is going to play decent exhibition football and put some pride in the team again. And we’d probably do better anyway with this bunch of players who all look better on the front foot.

We all know they are good players but they need a manager who can knit it all together to make them a cohesive team

Not talking about quality of performance, simply shape. For the first time this tournament we had a left footer playing at left back - my immediate thought was that Foden would finally have someone overlapping. He promptly buggered off to play in the inside right channel.

Obviously never going to happen but say if the FA were allowed to bin off Southgate tomorrow who would you bring in to maximise our chances in this competition?!

Half tempted to say someone who works off spirit and vibes, maybe Redknapp? Let him remind them all they are 'Triffic players'

That or go mental and appoint Ange from Spurs

Yeah perfect, I think he'd be a great national team manager. Pep may work at Spain who have a culture already but I doubt he could get a tune out of England

Living rent free and all that...

If I were you, about now I'd be accusing you of being obsessed and stalking me around the forum... all using ChatGPT to come up with some Incel language to flesh it out a bit.

Fortunately I'm not, so I won't.
