Been quite interesting to watch the live text.

Dunn saved a penalty (but rebound was scored)
Wilson has scored twice
Garner who looked good in preseason scored shortly after coming on
Philliskirk scored

Looking good for future, can see Wilson starting on sat.
Hope garner gets chance in preseason again

played Wigan, not sure what the score was. Apparently Jordan Clarke scored a Di Canio-esque goal according to twitter

Personally I think we should be using some of these lads in what remains of the season. Why give loan and short term contract players games when they wont be here next season. We may have to rely on some of the youngsters next season why not give them valuable experience when the pressure is off this season?

Game was played at Ryton when Ricoh pitch was frozen despite under soil heating mmmmmmmm

Agreed, give youth a chance. Now is the time.

Frozen Pitch at the Ricoh despite undersoil heating - must have been the wrong type of frost

Or someone didn't want the cost of turning it on...

It's good we have some promising youngsters coming through. And I'd be happy to see a few handed some first team experience too given the situation we find ourselves in.

Would they though if SP made a big thing of doing it ..... saying he is playing the youngsters to prepare for next season, to give them experience and asking the fans to really back them even if they make mistakes?

You would hope fans would see the the point of it and encourage, allow them to learn from mistakes ................. but you are probably right cc4l

This is simply not true.

The fans are very supportive of the youth players, even if they’re not very good. I remember the likes of Ashley Cain and Curtis Wynter having the crowd get right behind them and get plenty of encouragement even though they weren’t really up to much. Every pass/tackle would get a round of applause.

you would like to think so and maybe you are right

but city fans dont seem to be forward thinking, they just want the ball punted forward non stop, if they dont ahve time for passing philosophy will they have time for youth progression?

Yep, the only young player fans don't seem to like is Jordan Clarke.

I agree if SP explained what he was doing the 99.9% of fans would be behind them.

Bollocks. Remember the Hartlepool League Cup game a few seasons ago at the Ricoh?

I find our supporters unbearable in that situation, there's nothing wrong with passing backwards. Admittledly it tends to be when we're losing and fustrated, but its still the wrong attitude. Passing football is the best philosophy - Look at the first half against Donny, not only were they chasing shadows, but they looked under pressure to do something when they were in possession because they had so little of it.

Players brought through the youth system always get more of a chance from the fans, especially local lads and rightly so.

Wilson spoke a 'Carso' in his official site interview after netting 2 goals. Thought all that nickname shite was done with!?!

Sounds like a good performance. Any idea what the Wigan teamsheet looked like, any first-team fringe players? Really hope Wilson starts after that, as of course Clarke will at LB.

Not too many names I know, lots of youngsters but most of them probably on more money than our first team. Is Dell really Bell? In which case, can he not even make the U-21 side now?

Dunno.....I'd have thought if it was Bell he'd have started and come off at half time?
