U23s won 2-0: Hickman and Harries.

Ponticelli hit one over when through on goal apparently, back to the U18s with him

A good interview with U23s coach Sam Ricketts, who stepped in for Nicky Eaden today, here:

Sky Blues U-23s see off Bristol City at The Higgs Centre

In other news, the main pitch (where the 18s/23s used to play) at the AHC is being relaid/having maintenance and rugby posts are up at either end. A sorry sight..

I like that our current crop of young players are not only very talented but they have also been coached the right way, willing to fight for every ball, track back, help out etc. Excellent pressing from the front for the second goal

This is the current situation in the league:

14 points ahead of 3rd placed Crystal Palace with 7 games remaining. We can still catch Charlton at the top though with our games in hand, I'm sure that's what the players and the staff will be aiming for

Let's hope we can win the Checkatrade Trophy, stay in League One and our U18s (and maybe U23s) can win their leagues

No, we're a Category 2 academy. If we finish in the top two of our league we will play the relevant team from the North section. The winners from each semi-final progress into a final and the overall winner of the season is decided

We would just get some silverware I believe

Would be good to pack that game out! Do they play it at a stadium usually?

I would hope the Sky Blues Trust and the other fan groups would get behind it.

Yeah, they do play at the stadiums, not sure whether that's under discretion or by the clubs choice. If I remember correctly we had difficulty getting the Youth Cup games at the Ricoh last season, think they wanted the Charlton and Stoke games there but had to play them at netrual venues

The pitch at the AHC is in much better condition than the Ricoh though so maybe they will have to settle for playing there

The U18s have beaten Nottingham Forest 3-0. Jordan Ponticelli with a hat-trick and a solid defensive display as we went down to 10 men early in the second half.

It's now 9 wins in a row and 7 consecutive clean sheets. We are now 17 points clear of third placed Crystal Palace with just 6 games remaining. We play Cardiff at home next week and if we beat them (we beat them 7-0 a few weeks back) it will confirm a play-off place

Sorry forgot to include it. It was Liam Doyle for two yellows

The U16 striker we recently signed from Blackburn, Morgan Crowther, was on the bench and played the last 20 minutes

Been told that one of our talented U16s players will be off to Man Utd in the next few weeks/months. Can't say who, but Fulham and Celtic are also interested but United lead the way.

My grandson at Acadamy dare I say the pick of his year but then perhaps I'm a biased grandad. Other local clubs have let it be known should we lose Acadamy status they would like first refusal. What a shame Fisher is allowing this to happen

We've got to keep Cat 2 status next year surely?

Would be the height of short termism to let it go without even seeing if we bounce straight back.

Would be nice to get an answer from Fisher on this. If it's not 100% positive then a fundraising campaign is needed, maybe hit up the likes of Maddison and Wilson for a donation.

I believe the club are trying their very best to find a solution because they have many talented players in the ranks but whether it's in vain that remains to seen

In other news, our U18s are the only U18 side in the country who have a 100% record in 2017 and without conceding a single goal!

Also, I think the U18s will be finding out their futures very soon. Last year an announcement was made on the 10th. Two were already released about a month back but I expect all the remaining players to be deservedly offered pro terms.

Konrad Skuza (#1)
Jak Hickman (#2)
Reece Ford (#4)
Jordon Thompson (#5)
Chris Camwell (#3)
Kyle Finn (#10)
Dan Smith (#11)

And obviously Jordan Ponticelli (#9) and Tom Bayliss (#8) who are already on/have been offered pro terms

I don't share your confidence that they, they being Fisher are trying their very best to find a solution. While Fisher has control the Acadamy is possibly in its death throes. Soon as I can I'm going to ask the question to the Acadamy main man.

2-0 up

10 wins in a row, fair play to the lads.

No Finn or Ponticelli both injured.

Well done to our U18s who beat Cardiff 2-0 this afternoon (without 4 key players) and in doing so secured a play-off position. 10 wins in a row and eight consecutive clean sheets. Tom Bayliss and Chris Camwell (pen) on the scoresheet.

It looks likely based on the other league we will face either Sheffield United or Sheffield Wednesday in the play-offs. I have been told if we are at home the game will take place at the Alan Higgs Centre but if we get through to the final it will be at the Ricoh.

I don't think that's correct. Last season South 1st played North 2nd and vice versa. It's just the one game I believe which looks to be against one of the Sheffield sides. They have both beat us this season but that was pretty early on and we weren't in a rich vein of form then as we are now

Addai (GK), Whitmore, Harries, Leahy, Camwell, Lawton, Shipley, Maycock, Spence, Sayoud, Dev. Kelly-Evans (C)

I wonder if Robins is there? All of his other jobs have been in Yorkshire or just outside so I imagine he lives localish

It was only a youth loan so he trains and plays with us because I think Nuneaton are only part-time.

The U23s lost 3-1 last night. Devon Kelly-Evans scored his ninth U23 goal of the season and U18 centre-back Ross McMahon made his U23 debut after being largely a mainstay at the back in the U18s 10 match winning run. The play-offs now look to be slipping away from them unfortunately but U23s football is supposed to give a players platform to the first team which it has done this season in DiKE, Thomas and Stevenson
