Two things which really annoy me... (1 Viewer)

Agree - you can add the following:
1) we never sign anyone good
2) we rely on lower league journeymen and youth team players
3) we play in a ground more than 50% empty
4) we continue to lose money like it's going out of fashion
5) people blaming the manager for failing to do an impossible job

The whole situation is depressing. I can't wait for the football to start again though no matter how shite it is. One day we will all look back at the last few years and laugh. Hopefully after we've just beat Barcelona in the champions league final.

one of the biggest things to annoy me is constantly hearing that we have a great youth system. truth is, do we really? the only reason most of them are getting game time is cause of our financial situation and the fact we cant afford to bring anyone else in, and also so the owners can point to something positive.the amount of times i have heard the board rave about our youth policy. everyone is entitled to their opinion but personally i only rate christie. cant see anything in the likes of thomas, jordan clarke, bigi, jeffers, or wilson. dont rate cameron much better either, im not knocking the kids, i hope they prove me wrong i really do, just cant see it

Sometimes they don't tell us. We lost out on Hartlepool's out-of contract Gary Liddle who signed for Notts County because we couldn't compete with the wages they were offering. SISU kept that one quiet.

However, I share JHCs pessimism regarding transfer rumours. Sometimes I think they release names like Fleck and Norwood just to string the fans along - I mean if we can't compete with the likes of Notts County, Huddersfield, Northampton etc, what chance have we got of signing anybody half-decent?

The PR is Dire,we hav'nt had a fanfare even when signing anyone since they got here ,the news breaks and then it takes a week to get the signings that did happen done ,like they sub the legals out to a remote call center on a different continent ,might as well be another Planet right now .What i'm saying is that they are incapable of the whirlwind that should accompany such an event,killing the euphoria.:jerkit:

I don't think I'd ever trust your judgement on a player ... for me the pecking order is.

1. Clarke
2. Bigi (on potential, he could yet go on to success or mediocrity, he's very young)
3. Thomas
4= Cameron & Christie, Cameron has 1 1/2 seasons behind him, make or break year

Never seen a lot in Jeffers, not seen enough of Wilson to say.

I admit I am worried about the amount of players slipping through our fingers. I don't think there are any conspiracies though. I really don't think the current board believe we are that stupid. I just think that players/agents are wising up to the state we are in and that we are also completing for signatures with clubs who are either in a league higher or have some momentum about them. Just having a decent ground and training facility won't cut it anymore!!

so basically u have just described them at average at best, so how can u say clarke is ahead of christie? christie made the right back spot his own, clarke has hardly played, i think u make need to look at ur own judgement of a player

I agree with Jack. Although I wouldn't call this a make or break year for Cameron. Id still give him a few seasons.

Clarke hardly played because he was out injured for two-thirds of last season. He'd have been first choice and 'made the right-back slot his own' but for that. Don't get me wrong, Christie is a good prospect but Clarke showed glimpses of real ability when he came back.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was the agents that tipped off the media and other clubs about clubs interest/negotiations with their players as way of getting the best financial package for themselves and the player.

Cameron's only 20 very young for a centre half. I remember quite a few people writing Ben Turner at the same age, in fact it wasn't until the 2010/11 season we saw his real quality and potential and he was 22 then.

However you look at it we've been lead to believe through them and speculators that The leagues would be awash with free signings,with lower wage demands as a result of FFP,plenty to choose from yet out of 6 alleged targets not one has made it through our door,we're either not offering enough or recognised as a basket case of a club with a management team not convincing enough to swing it.

Your comment 5 shows why we are in this mess. The continued passive acceptance of this hopeless clown will certainly help sisu in the deployment of their current strategy.

Jeffers, 1 goal in 22 at Cheltenham and 0 goals at Cambridge United. He is our 3rd choice striker.

2 18 year olds in central midfield, etc etc

Thats why we are in this mess !

You said yourself that we needed a striker in Jan to come in and score 10 goals, well we had one, and SISU sold him !

So basically the reason we are in a financial mess, sell our best players and sign no one, slash the wage bill, and be subjected to a transfer embargo is because of fans passive acceptance of AT? So by all chanting Thorn Out, will suddenly make Sisu sack Thorn, get in a top Championship manager and start buying top championships players, increase the wage budget and transfer fund and mount a PL promotion charge?

No but it will get focus. Thorn sees himself as a SISU mouthpiece. He says good things to sell season tickets when they tell him to and when the going gets tough he pretends to criticise. Sack Thorn and what do they do? They have to recruit someone and that someone would not accept the terms of employment Thorn clearly does. If we were buying top players he would not be manager anyway. You are level headed (more than me) so answer this - what club regardless of any financial constraints - offers a manager a new contract with an 18% win ratio? Name one.

No - they would promote Carsley or Shaw who would do the same as Thorn or they would employ someone externally who would accept the terms of the position. AB and Coleman both towed the line, as did Reid but all three have publication slated the way the club is run. Didn't say a dickie bird while they were manager did they?

To answer your question probably none, but I doubt many if any other managers are on a 1 year rolling contract. Only 3 or 4 of the 12 relegated clubs have parted company with their manager.

Sisu are 100% the problem at our club and your time would be better spent focusing on them !!!
Your continuious negative attacks on Thorn is only likely to damage and dis-harmonise the team !!!

So Sisu are 100% responsible yet you support the choice of manager. So you actually endorse this particular decision. Therefore logically you are not against all the decisions they make.
My attacks will "damage and dis-harmonise the team". I take it this one is for laughs. We have under Thorn an 18% win ratio including the magnificent honeymoon period during which the ratio was still worse than when Boothroyd was in office (and a lot worse than Peter Reid).
WUM is a throwaway remark as I disagree with you.
I do support the team and I want a better team. I have a view that Thorn is not fit for purpose and will continue to destroy any hope we have to progress. I also believe if Thorn and Fisher over a beer read your posts they will smirk and realise they still can continue to wreck the club. Thorn is a corporate man, a SIS man. I do focus all my attention on the owners and in particular their number one employee.

This is supposition. Statistical analysis over the course of the managers over the last century suggests they could only do better.

In a similar vein, when we have a decent player out of contract we always make a big play in the media about how we are hopeful of them signing a new contract and invariably they never do and move on as a free agent. It happened with King, Gunnarsson, Westwood, Juke and no doubt will soon happen with Cranie and Keogh. If the club aren't likely to get these players to sign why say anything?

Yes, I hear you say that they say these things to get gullible fans to buy season tickets but surely the hopes dashed just make fans even angrier about the antics of SISU for failing to be straight with the fans.

The agent will be the one doing the media hawking not the club - that is what he is paid for.

Stop being a dick, I don't think anyone here thinks Thorn is a top class manager and SISU are geniuses for appointing him. Most people acknowledge he is here and still here because he was a cheap option and already on the wage bill at the time, not because he was or has proven himself to be a great manager.

I am sure most people would want to have a better quality of manager but nobody good would be interested in the job. If Thorn was to go another unproven manager would take his place and that is the reality of the situation we are in, why replace one inexperienced manager with another.

What I do get annoyed by is when people post making out everything wrong to be the managers fault. Like we miss out on a signing to another club and people use this as ammo to criticise the manager. Or when people try to make out it was the managers fault we were relegated when we ended the season with about 6 senior fit players.

The point that SISU only treat us like this is because the fans let it happen is frankly horse shit. They were unaffected by protests and unrest from the fans last season and still continue to run the club in the same manner. You think if the fans turned against Thorn, he would be sacked a quality manager would be employed and he would be given 4 million to get us out of the division. If you think this you are deluded.

You need to add some balance to your posts you seem to be under the impression that anyone that defends the manager loves him and thinks he is the best thing to happen to the club when actually they are just acknowledging he has the toughest conditions and worst owners of any manager in the football league so will struggle to be successful.

If you know of an affordable manager who would be interested in the job who could be successful with no budget and a squad made up mostly players under 20 years old then you should really ring the club as I am sure they would be delighted to hear it.
If you don't know of a manager who could tick all the above boxes then you are wasting your time.

I almost gave up with the first factually incorrect statement listed above.

I did however read on to see lots more curious comments. Where does 4 million come into it? Irrelevent - a budget is a budget whatever it is. It is how the manager deals with it. For me 18% is time for change regardless of budget. So he has the worst owners and conditions of any manager in the league. Has he? I don't know - what is the wage bill at Yeovil or Torquay? I don't know - do you? Also as I believe he is inept at tactics, motivation and other aspects of management my view is the budget is irrelevant - he is not up to it.

I left the last comment of your response in as well. I don't think there are replacement owners interested in the club either - certainly none who have made a credible bid. So following that logic are you saying we need to get behind SISU. After all suggesting they go is wasting my time - apparantly.

So predictable, I knew you were going to reply with this point about the owners before I had finished my post.:laugh:

I would agree to an extent, we should be supporting the club and the owners as at the moment there is no credible alternative. Doesn't mean we have to like them or agree with what they are doing but I am sure things would be better now if we had 25k supporting the club an owners inside the stadium for the last 2 years. It didn't help with Hoffman pretending for 9 months there was an alternative to SISU and telling us he was ready to step in and all that malarky, this increased the pressure on SISU to leave the club and upped the protests against them and just increased fans dislike of them.

If there were quality managers going to the papers and radio stations telling them they want to manage Coventry City I am 99% sure there would be a pressure from the fans to sack Thorn and appoint this quality manager.

Like I say if you know of an affordable manager who is interested in joining us who could be successful with little budget and a squad made up of mostly players U20 you should let the club know, if you are calling for Thorn's head then I assume you have already thought of what manager you will replace him with who can do all the above and it is really selfish of you to be withholding this information.
