Kettering and Chesterfield…. Anyone seen who the Leicester scum have got.....

I wish our owners had the vision to provide an entertaining brand of football like theirs! I don’t like Leicester but I’d love their owners.

That's not a great idea imo. It will be a full house but they'll probably get stuffed and won't be good for confidence. Winning can be a good habit and help the mind-set. Pre-season should be about gaining fitness, togetherness, match practice trying a few new things from training and gradually building for the season ahead. Going full-pelt to show how good you are against Real Madrid and risking collecting an injury because your body isn't prepared is not what I would want to see.

I like to see squads get away from it all and play teams already into their season like Scandanavia but I guess that's out of our budget at the moment.

We nearly had Juventus at the Ricoh a few years back before Ranieri pulled the plug.

If we got a top team down the Ricoh it'd be a sell out. A much needed injection of cash? Even if they only charged a tenner per ticket and lets say £50 corporate your still talking £350k. I know I wouldn't miss it.

It'd need to be one of the big names I think, I was flabbergasted a team of the quality of Udinese only got like 5 or 6000 in.

The reason Leicester can get them there is not to make money (hence they don't need it). You have to pay money to get teams like RM to play you.

I know it sounds a good idea to get a top European side to play a friendly before the season kicks off. But it can have a hell of a negative effect.
I remember City playing Ajax at Highfield Road & getting an absolute hammering!!
The players were totally shell shocked & all confidence was gone before the season had even kicked off...

Udi who. It'd need to be a big team like Real, Barca, Juve, Inter, AC, Chelski, Man Utd etc. A mid table team just wouldn't cut it.

Benfica was the same too - 6-1 or 6-2 something like that if I remember

I thought we drew with Ajax and got hammered by Benfica. George Boateng played as a wing-back in Ajax's 3-5-2, and we signed him later that season. Wasn't the Benfica match part of the Isaias transfer deal? They played us off the pitch!

We got Boateng from Feyenoord rather than Ajax, was it them we played?

Forgot about Benfica.

I'm pretty sure Ajax beat us easily as it was the start of the season after we had sold Keane & had Roussell up front pretty much on his own & it was only an Ajax xi.

We did play Feyenoord, seem to remeber it being an evening game cause their fans trashed the away end.
The Udinese game was a farce, Really dirty game with players getting injured & nearly coming to blows.
