Bournemouth were fined £7.6m last season for breaching FFP rules

'The new loans led to debt levels increasing from £52.6m to £69.3m (32%) as Mr Demin showed his new level of ambition have successfully stabilised the club in the Premier League'

My point is they are now financially stable, as they got onto the PL, but the club received loads of interest free loans from it's owner (Mr Demin) to do so. Had they not made it, and he wanted his money back, they would have gone belly up. It was never a sustainable model without getting into the PL. (unless, of course, I am wrong !)

Thanks for this, H. I'm not sure sustainable is an appropriate word to use in modern football. Bournemouth made a loss of £10.6m in 2018, and as you say their survival is entirely at the whim of their benefactor. They're certainly not alone in that. One poor season in the PL and they face having to add to their substantial debt, just to survive in that league. Their eye-watering wage bill, in excess of £100m, shows what a nutty world it is.

Bournemouth have an owner pumping millions upon millions into the club though whereas we are operating a self sustainable model

How are Sky and BT fairing currently ?
What will the landscape be like once football does eventually become a regular fixture of life again .
Who is likely to fund up to or beyond the existing levels .
Or Will Jeff Bezoz come along and continue the insanity.

My worry is without a big spender like Sky or Amazon to spread the cash around fairly you’ll just get clubs doing their own streaming thing cos it’s so easy these days and Man City/Liverpool/Man Utd will have fuck tons of cash and the rest will be lucky to stay where they are and in all likelihood drop back.

The game will become about attracting as many worldwide fans as possible. And there’s not enough interest to keep all bar a few big clubs going that way.
