Premier League football TV rights battle kicks off - Premier League TV rights battle kicks off

This could all get rather muddied with digital companies possibly entering the fray. Talk of Amazon, Netflix, Facebook and Twitter.

Not sure if it would work, but I would quite like to see a rights by division. Could then be contracts solely for the Premier, solely for the Championship and then League One and Two etc.

If a company had League Two rights and we got more City live games and better highlights I would probably go for that.

I have Sky Sports and apart from maybe the big games, Man U v Man City, Arsenal v Spurs etc., I'm not interested. Not interested in Championship games either, or at the moment, League One.

Would be interested in League Two though with more City lives matches and extended highlights.

I would like to see the I follow thing extended so we can all watch away games I would pay the full price of a match ticket to do this and could help clubs survive

Same here. Not convinced about Saturday night football either. Its total overkill. How much football can one person watch? The fragmentation doesn't help either. Claimed to help competition and benefit the consumer but just means you have to get multiple subscriptions and it costs a fortune.

Wonder how many viewers some of the non PL / FL games pull in. Can't imagine many people subscribing to BT for non league or Premier for Belgian league.

Yeah, but obviously if someone got the rights to say just League Two and/or Conference the price they would have to pay for the package would be just a fraction of that of the bigger leagues.

It's all a ruse to make some people a lot more money and it'll ultimately hit us, the fans, in the pocket. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.

It stinks.

I do admit to have Sky though and realise that I've partly fanned the flames but I only have it for the golf. If the golf were to move to another provider, I'd get rid of Sky at the drop of a hat. No Champions League, no Ashes and they want to put prices up despite offering less to watch?

Why do you think Murdoch sold off Fox to Disney (spit).. to be in a strong position to renew the rights.
