Oh and that Rubio has weighed in on some levels, Bannon has been saved from exposure by the supreme?

Dirty election from probably the most corrupt govt modern Europe has seen. Fake AIs, openly buying votes, intimidation (physical, loss of jobs & benefits)- the list goes on. On paper Orbán loses (11-15% behind in all independent polls, the same figures ahead in govt polls) - in reality there could be mass vote rigging in rural areas in particular. Aren't enough independent poll observers to cover the country.
Fidesz don't do irony. Campaigning that an opposition govt would take Hungary into a war against Russia and that they are the party of peace whilst using Trump ( and his proclivity for war) to campaign for them. Being caught again passing confidential info to the Russians - first time was NATO stuff now it's EU stuff.

Trump: "I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks.

This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE! The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East.

We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate.

Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated.

On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East, it is an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution."

=================

Iran's 10-point conditions that the US has accepted (allegedly):

The US is fundamentally committed to:

Non-aggression
Continuation of Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz
Acceptance of enrichment
Lifting all primary sanctions
Lifting all secondary sanctions
Termination of all UN Security Council resolutions
Termination of all IAEA Board of Governors resolutions
Payment of compensation to Iran
Withdrawal of US combat forces from the region
Cessation of war on all fronts, including against the heroic Islamic Resistance of Lebanon.

If the US agree to those 10 points it's a humiliating defeat for them and a strategic disaster.

Presumably it's just a temporary agreement for now and a convenient off ramp following his earlier threat to give them a bit of breathing space.

Absolute shambles.

So let me make sure I've got this right. He starts a war, threatens war crimes & genocide with more than a hint of unleashing a nuclear weapon. Then we're all supposed to applaud when he backs out and things go back to something approximate to where they were before he started all this?

Or are we supposed to be back slapping Trump for reopening the straight? The same straight that Iran said last week they would allow ships to route through, the same straight that for several days has seen an ever increasing number of ships pass through with no issue?

He's backed down and been made to look a fool once again. There was reporters in the White House presser openly asking him about TACO. He's lost the US credibility around the world, the idea that they are a stable world leader is long gone, and he's made himself look weak.

See Netanyahu has already declared the ceasefire doesn't include Israel and has spent the morning dropping bombs on Lebanon

He reeks of jealousy about Obama and always has done, the Iran deal was one of his major achievements.

He is now trying to sell a worse version of that deal as a big win for the US.

None of them would be accepted. Would give Iran control of the Middle East as well as global economy. Other Arab states wouldn't stand for it.

There were many people who opposed the deal and that it in reality was a sell out to Iran

It’s true? You constantly say it but more opposed it than supported it in the States. It was viewed as appeasing Iran by lifting massive sanctions and handing billions of dollars to increase military spending.

However good it was or wasn't, it's miles better than the one currently on the table - and the current one has been at incredible cost only to make it worse.

Id imagine a couple will have to be accepted in some form to get a deal done though; obviously cessation of war, non aggression and I’d imagine something around compensation (via payments to go through Strait or removal of some sanctions). Whatever gets agreed will no doubt be worse than the status quo before it all kicked off.

I’m not confident that Israel won’t disrupt the ceasefire before any deal can get done anyway though.

What a shitshow

It was succeeding in its stated objectives of preventing Iranian progress towards nuclear weapons. The money being 'handed over' was already due to Iran in the first place.

There was no legal recourse in removing sanctions whatsoever. You know full well what the concerns were and many have come to fruition.

You asked what was good about it. The obvious answer is that it got Iran to comply with restrictions on its nuclear programme, that was the main objective.

Since Trump pulled the US out of the agreement and started bombing the country and killing its leaders, they have instead been given every reason to try and get a nuclear weapon as soon as possible.

What will likely end up happening is that another version of the JPCOA will be signed but with more terms in Iran's favour.

It's a monumental fuck up and your contrarianism is showing big time if you claim otherwise.
