They are trying to get Maduro to ‘admit’ that he helped Biden ‘steal’ the 2020 election in exchange for getting a ‘lenient’ sentence.

because he was associated with the right-wing candidate in the Honduran election and Trump wants the left out of Latin & South American govts.
What seems to escape scrutiny is how many "financial" criminals Trump has been pardoning - often those whose lobbyists etc have strong contacts with the Trump inner circle. When this "regime" is done some of the financial scandals that will be exposed will be mind-blowing. Of course Trump will spend his last weeks in office auto-signing large amounts of presidential pardons in anticipation of this.

US has been claiming (for many years both Rep & Dem admininistrations) that Venezuelan govt & military allowed & assisted transport of drugs from colombia via Venezuela into US
