It is irrelevant.

It would be a lot better if you just came out and said it was a bit of a shitty thing to do rather than being a baby about it just because they share the same view as you.

How is it irrelevant? Peaceful protest has never been worthy of arrest as far as I can tell.

The man actively avoided the draft for Vietnam. He once insulted John McCain by saying he 'preferred his war heroes who weren't captured'. Bloke is a hypocrite and a coward.

What has this got to do with being worthy of arrest? You keep missing the point over and over.

You are the epitome of why Trump Derrangement Syndrome was coined. So completely blinded by your hate for one man you've lost any common sense, or the ability to look at things fairly and evaluate it. It's actually become ridiculous.

Trump = bad
Anything anyone does against him = fine

It isn't as black and white as that, and your posts are coming across as someone brainwashed.

It's definitely up there with the worst things he's ever said, and that takes some doing.

James O'brien (I know, not everyone's cup of tea) had a segment earlier where veterans and friends/family of veterans called up to give their opinion on Trump's words.

I didn't listen to the show but heard a few clips. One in particular of a man whose son took his own life while in Afghanistan was a particularly tough listen.

You're trying to draw an equivalence between violent masked goons and peaceful protesters is all. There isn't one to be made.

As for the boss of these goons, he's a criminal and should be locked up. I've already explained to you at what point he crossed that line for me and it wasn't in 2016.

Not sure he could possibly find a way to be more offensive if he tried.

Problem now is he doesn't apologise and those in the White House always defend him. Look at the 'he didn't say Iceland' stuff the other day when we all saw him say it.

Starmer and others also can't back down either and this is the sort of thing that may not go away with a quick spin of the news cycle.

Can imagine there's a fair few veterans in the US that aren't too impressed either.

No, you are repeating the same crap. This isn't about comparisons, or whataboutism. Both things you keep doing.

You keep using language like 'peaceful' to try and make everything look softer and innocent, but this isn't about who is worse, who was at fault, or the 'masked goons'. You cannot bring yourself to challenge people who are doing things that are unsavoury because you can no longer see they've done anything wrong, because they hate Trump like you and therefore you've told yourself anything goes.

You are completely brainwashed and even when things are being explained to you, you still go out of the way to make things up, deflect, or deny. If those 'peaceful protesters' going into the church had been wearing lanyards with ICE written on them, you would be going ballistic on here.

No. I have nothing to do with him.

As far as I can see there are only a few people on here who have been capable of challenging both Trump (along with his supporters), and also some of the lunatics that have gone too far in their behaviours opposing him.

Anyone incapable of doing that can't really be taken seriously, as it isn't black and white overall. People swallowing everything Trump says would get criticism in the real world, but it goes the other way too. That's what we are seeing here.

I don’t want to see violence carried out against ICE officials just as much as I don’t want to see them carrying it out against their own citizens. These people went into a church to heckle a local ICE official.

It’s within their rights to do so and they weren’t violent against anybody. Trump pardoned 4000 rioters who tried to help him steal an election. By that measure, political violence in general apparently isn’t a criminal offence these days.

@mmttww - You have just proved my point again.

You cannot criticise anyone who does something against Trump, regardless of what it is. Every time this is challenged we get a different direction which changes depending on the level of desperation, now taking my posts out of context, which probably shows how much of a corner this has got some of you into.

It is very cowardly, and there are a few of you doing it. If you cannot call someone or something out because of political allegiance, no matter how shit it is, then you are a weak person.

Again, why are you talking about Trump pardoning people? It has nothing to do with this.

The peaceful friends of yours went into a church for their protest. It is fucking low behaviour. You have convinced yourself this is normal and ok, and some of you are making yourselves look really silly over it.

When people tried to assassinate him I condemned it. This is people going into a church to heckle an official.

What do you think should have happened to them? Arrest? A fine? Being asked to leave?

Yeah, I get that because I think you're actually serious with this stuff. It's a bit mad how much you oversimply things and offer opinion as if it's empirical thinking.

If you can't understand or accept that people's issue with the ICE stuff can have nothing to do with who's in the White House, then there's no point talking about it.

There's people openly on this thread saying they wish he was assassinated. You haven't called that out. Not that it has anything to do with this anyway. Again...

This also has nothing to do with what any punishment should be for these people. They protested in a church. It is low behaviour. That is it. If you are really telling me that it isn't a problem and that you think it is perfectly normal behaviour, then it demonstrates how lost you are on this.

No, I am pointing out that the majority of people in this thread are in an echo chamber and are encouraging each other to lower the bar each time. We have seen so much bullshit posted in this thread recently, and given how batshit Trump is behaving these days, it really is not necessary to switch into child mode and come out with such crap.

Your second sentence doesn't even make sense. This whole conversation keeps flipping back to Trump comparisons at every turn. That is what this is all about. A man that many people hate (and believe me, I am not a fan of many of his recent actions), which has become so deep that critical thinking has gone missing. People went into a church to protest. It is wrong. Doesn't matter what your political affiliation is. If you are unable to call that out and think it is ok, then you are lost.

I think entering the church and filming themselves and doing what they did was pretty thick. You haven't asked anyone's opinion on the protest and I don't think anyone's shared theirs, other than you.

People have questioned the language used about it and pointed out that there's no evidence to support the idea that protestors 'stormed a church'. I'm going to bed; to be continued if we cba.

I am a retired Churchwarden in the Church of England. Churchwardens have the power, within the church precincts, to arrest and evict persons who cause disruption of a church service.

It could be different in the US of course.

We wouldn't still be talking about it if what you just said had surfaced earlier rather than the smoke and mirrors of the last few pages from some, let's leave it at that. This has already had too much airtime.

Given that European airlines have cancelled flights to the middle east, it looks like something might be about to kick off, which is much more important than this conversation. Iran are also making threats by the looks of it, so hopefully we don't wake up to world war 3 tomorrow.

And ICE agents hung around a school to pick up kids to try and get them and their relatives, then took them hundreds of miles to detention centres. I'd say that's lower than showing your displeasure in a church at the people who are doing this, and have murdered people.

TDS is something to deflect away from the REAL Trump Derangement Syndrome which is people accepting and condoning everything he does and agreeing with him, despite all evidence and common sense telling them they shouldn't.

Trump is supposedly the victim of being made to look bad and the BBC should be shut down when Trump tells lies pretty much every time he opens his mouth and it's fine. Trump talks about taking over a supposed ally, using military force if necessary and 'yeah, why not. America needs Greenland for security'. Even though a basic look at the facts tells you it doesn't. Even you are talking about people protesting in a church against his agents as a disgrace, but those agents just kidnapping people (including kids) off the street and detaining/deporting them without due process and have murdered those opposing them gets a shrug. Even over the last couple of days we've seen him figuratively piss on the graves of our servicemen who died in the course of duty and we've got right wing fanboys saying how we would be better if he invaded and took over the UK. THAT is TDS.

The response of incredulity and exasperation to those that think like that is, IMO, perfectly valid. It needs constantly pointing out because he never stops talking dangerous nonsense bullshit. A man who is clearly a narcissistic lunatic who cannot and should not be trusted on anything he says, and yet people somehow swallow everything he says and does. And yet if one of his opponents does even the slightest mistake, even in good faith, then they're a joke and shouldn't be taken seriously.

There are a lot of people who are going to look very, very silly in years to come when what we're saying now is not only proved, but actually is shown to be the tip of a an iceberg so big it not only would sink the Titanic, but it would sink the iceberg that sunk the Titanic.

I wonder what the reaction would have been from some on this board had it been the likes of Biden who had made those comments about our military and servicemen and women? Or if the likes of Macron or von der Leyen had made them?
