By elected president I take it you mean the Russian puppet, one of the other ones before Trump.The comparison is absurd given that Ukraine has always been a powder keg given its history - especially Crimea - and the military overthrow of an elected president followed by sanctions against its Russian population. The US wanted this conflict and it got it. Trump is a maverick politician who has no filter or norms - he just opposes the prior strategy of a proxy war in Ukraine to wear down its perceived enemy.
