I see he is making preparations to 'take' the Panama Canal, put boots on the ground in Mexico and perhaps even in Greenland too. The anti war President who wants to expand US territory, the people's champion who takes people's cancer treatment away etc.

It's almost like he's a fucking liar

90% of American ATCs are understaffed, but he wants to lay more people off. More plane crashes on the way.

I went on X this morning, saw Canada was trending and thought I'd have a browse.

Now I know this it to be expected and is by design. But every single tweet I saw was pro Trump and anti Canada - even from some Canadian people. Often alongside a flattering photo of Trump making him look like some kind of super macho superhero. With a bit of homophobia chucked in for good measure.

I’m not sure what everyone else gets on their Twitter but the first three posts on the subject on mine were as follows (a fair few about Eccles rumours as well for good measure). All against the tariffs/trump

FWIW I just don’t think you treat allies like Canada in this way (China are fair game)

Not whilst they’re still the dominant partner in NATO*. Europe has relied on the U.S. for defence/security and ultimately still does. It’s why I’ve been banging on about everyone in europe spending more on defence so we/they become less reliant on US. The percentage of GDP spent on defence by some European countries in recent years/decades has been pitiful, in addition Germany and others became so reliant on them for cheap energy and in turn ploughed tens of billions into Russia

*if Trump drops that position then obviously the whole game changes

If it becomes a pseudo dictatorship invading friendly nations and declaring trade wars on most of the world then you have to question if it’s even an ally.

It’s a propaganda site. And anyone with half a brain has left for other alternatives recently so it’s just getting worse and more bubble like really. You’d get more balance on 4chan these days.

To be clear I don’t think a US invasion of Mexico or Panama will suddenly turn the world against them. But it will be very interesting to see what reaction it does get.

America is already acting against itself with these tariffs, it's clearly going to damage its own economy.

All those people who voted for Trump because of cost of living issues, are soon going to find out how little he actually cares about them.

The right might control the media, but they can't control prices at the pumps or the tills. Let's see how important trolling the libs really is to your average American, when it hits them in the pocket.

They're already saying its fine that prices will go up because he will give them massive tax cuts. There's no helping some people.

I might well be wrong as who knows with Trump but talk of invasions feels a little OTT/premature

The Panama canal debate is an interesting one and from what I’ve read,,is more to do with Chinas influence/involvement in the area. This looks like it’s already getting resolved

Quite a few of the threads I've seen on Reddit about the Canada situation (on Canadian groups) seem to have been the opposite reaction, with the majority really pushing for boycotting American products, and just general support for the Canadian government's response even if both countries will probably lose out overall.

The actual reality of opinion is I'd imagine somewhere inbetween, but can't help but feel the US is increasingly in danger of isolating itself, especially from its direct neighbours

The talk of it in relation to Mexico is very much not premature. The designation of cartels as terrorist organisations was the first step towards conducting military operations there.

On the canal, Trump has often said he wants to take it back. The question is by what means.

They won't care though. It's like Brexit, it's a cult - any negative outcomes are just dismissed out of hand.

Shutting down the US foreign aid agency is probably bad news for westerners who want to see less migration to their countries.

I see he’s threatening Tariffs on the UK now. So much for a free trade deal post Brexit. So much was hinging upon that by brexiteers. Especially once Trump was in power.
