Clear lesson is ignore the electorate's concerns about immigration at your peril.
Massive shift to Trump by African American and Latino men was pivotal.
15m illegals coming into the country, driving down wages and taking their jobs was the reason.
Trump recognised it. Dems thought they could ignore it.
I’m not sure it’s ignore
I think it’s more there is no black and white answer to it and it will only get worse and this is just talking about economic rather than lack of water or food which will be the next migratory effects
No man and no country is an island I’m afraid

They have been misled that there are easy answers that don’t have shit consequences much like reform here

Suspect He will say we need to let China have it in exchange for doing business with them. I know various western nations have tried to start building fabs for semiconductors but don’t think we are anywhere near ready to keep our own industries afloat.

I've no idea on the cost of things in American shops, but im sure the voters there do.
When Trump asked them if they are better off now than 4 years ago, they answered no.

That is surely the only data that matters, and the only matrix that can be trusted.
But surely there's a problem if people are voting because they say they are worse off than 4 years ago when the facts show the opposite is true.

There was a group of Trump supporters interviewed at one of his rallies. They worked in agri and the interviewer pointed out that Trumps agri policies would mean they were significantly worse off. They agreed with this, said they were aware of it, but would vote for him anyway.

Now people can obviously vote for things that don't benefit them personally but it didn't come across that they were voting for something that would disadvantage them personally for the greater good. I'm not sure how you counter that really.

Perhaps you get the laughing emoji for continuously demonstrating that you don't live in the real world, but rather in a bubble. There are some good people on here with different opinions, and then there are some stuck in complete echo-chambers like you which are incapable of debate.

Your post is overdramatic nonsense as it usually is on the politics threads, and once again the person who is calling other people names is one that sings from the 'I'm a compassionate person' hymn sheet. Not only has that mask has slipped again, but the insults being used are rather lacking some self-reflection.

You don't debate at all mate, so don't kid yourself.

You warble on about echo chambers with anyone you disagree with, but never engage on the facts.

If the best response you can make to a serious post, is a laughing emoji, then yes, I'm afraid you're exposing yourself as a bit of a tit.

If you want polite engagement then engage politely, if you want to respond like a trolling dickhead then expect to get treated like one.

Respect cuts both ways sunshine, if you give it you get it, if you can't then stop being so precious about feeling insulted.

There's no hypocrisy here, I can care about other people whilst calling out your obvious bullshit. If it upsets you there's not much I can do about it - maybe you're just being a bit over dramatic.

It doesn't favour Trump though. There are scores of articles on there telling you to vote for Harris. You cannot quote that as a source to support your argument and then make a comment about it not being biased in any way - which is what you are doing and now trying to backtrack on using semantics.

Who's we, i don't expect much to change in the UK. As for the US, Trump only has 1 term anyway and if the people don't like what he does they'll just vote the Republicans out again and the cycle will continue. I do find these threads all very dramatic.

It’s a hard thing to explain- some of the issue is that the people that don’t like Trump are hoping for something which in human history has proven very hard to achieve, a world where service to self isn’t the dominant way of life.

Trump kind of embodies what a lot of people hate in the world- the culture of take take take, me, power, dominance, deceit, division. It’s not Trump himself, it’s a kind of mild despair around where the world in general is heading. It’s not about what he plans to do with the economy or stuff like that, it’s the fact that all over the world there are dangerous nutcases in power and it just feels like we’re all heading to a very dangerous situation somewhere.

Can't see the price of things going down if Trump somehow managed zero immigration, although history suggests he won't, and implements huge tariffs pushing for things sold in America to be manufactured in America.

Quick Google suggests an American made iPhone would see the cost rise from $1,000 to $2,400.

You have never once demonstrated any ability to think from anyone else's perspective, or accept alternative opinions. You are essentially incapable of debate and also lack any form of self-reflection, as can be found again where you call other people precious directly after quoting your own post because you didn't like laughing emojis.

Carry on if you want, but it is pointless to try and engage with you.

He's certainly an unpalatable character, very American for sure! Maybe because he's such a dunce he just says out loud what a lot of politicians think anyway, especially over there. At least you know what you're getting. I expect his term will be full of bluster and not much else then America will be back to flip flopping between career politician for the foreseeable. That's more likely to me than the hellfire predicted by some on here. I guess time will tell.

This is exactly what people were trying to say when people had the knives out for Robins & coming up with all kinds of bonkers scenarios to justify their view, and others were urging to give it time. Same principle.

Human nature at the moment.
