Mate, that response actually made me laugh. Step out the echo chamber, or log out of reddit.

Harris is 'Bog standard' in your eyes. She's sub-standard in mine. Like I said, the benchmark is so low with Trump that she gets a free ride. There's some people that would vote for a scarecrow as long as it wasn't him. That's fine, but let's not try to pretend she's better than she is just because that is the case.

Biden was the scarecrow and Trump would have beaten him convincingly.

OK. Make your case. What’s wrong with her? Anything at all? Cos all I’ve heard from you is vague accusations of being substandard and esoteric complaints about the political process that’s selected her.

She literally introduces herself with pronouns. I don't think I need to say much more to qualify her as an idiot. Even if I sat here listing all the things I think make her not a very good politician, it wouldn't matter. You are not going to change your opinion regardless of what anyone says, so it is all redundant.

Like I said previously, the Trump Derangement Syndrome causes people to do some things as stupidly as him. Trying to argue that Harris is a respectable politician (not that you or anyone else has actually made any reasonable points anyway) being an example that shows you are truly lost in that echo chamber of delusion.

I'd had a few on NYE and a load more in the day so can't properly remember everything that happened but what did Kamala Harris do wrong at Boro Away?

Did she make obscene hand gestures at the parents in the family enclosure?

Exactly this. If beating Trump was so easy the sitting president wouldn’t have stepped down for the first time ever despite an outstanding record.

She’s not an idiot is she mate? She’s passed law school and comes from a family of academics.

She’s a Democrat in 2024 who has large amounts of activists invested in woke language. The tide is turning but up until very recently woke language was the bare minimum for a democrat politician.

Anyone that uses 'woke language' such as introducing themself with a set of pronouns is a complete idiot that I wouldn't want anywhere near the decision making processes of my country.

You see it a completely different way from me so let's just leave it at that.

If you actually wanted to dive into some of the policy differences between Harris and Trump and what makes the former better than the latter on that basis we can, by all means.

Issue by issue she is better.

They’re not a complete idiot. They’re arguably too quick to accept every progressive idea as a good one, but fundamentally trying to respect people doesn’t make someone an idiot does it?

Trump uses woke language on the right about immigrants and taxes and guns and abortion and vaccines because these are the entry bar on the right.

What you’re doing is saying “Any Democrat is unacceptable” which is just a ludicrous position that marks you out as a partisan not worth listening to.

With the set-up of the electoral college and the entrenched positions of each side there is no-one that would 'walk it'.

…the party with the most votes won. If we want to be blunt, the US Senate is weighted in Republicans’ favour by granting places like Wyoming the same representation as California. The electoral college does something similar but to a lesser extent.

Or do you think the candidate with fewer votes should win?

The electoral college is just madness. A candidate could win by a few thousand votes and end up getting a huge chunk of electoral college votes as most don' split them.
It's a mockery of democracy. Just do it by popular vote.

I tend to agree, but it's a bit rich for us in the UK to lecture others about their electoral system when ours is itself such a mess.

60% of the seats with 34% of the vote is an insult to the majority of the electorate.

Oh, I know ours is a mess too, and needs change.

But at least we're voting for representatives for our area, rather than a PM specifically even though in practice is probably is that. Theirs is literally voting for an individual for a specific position so no need for all the bollocks surrounding it. It's literally only there to skew the result.

But that's what Senators and Congress are for. If you get the most of those for a state then the head of the party becomes leader of the house.

This is a completely standalone position for a federal position and therefore the states should not have any involvement in it. It should just be every individual who is allowed gets one vote and whichever candidate gets the most votes wins.

This isn't news. Everyone has known this from the second he won the nomination.

Of course if Trump doesn't win they're going to reject it, because Trump isn't going to accept he lost.

Seems the US media have dropped this one. Nothing much to it.

Does make you wonder why they can't publish the names, everyone assumes there will be some interesting people involved.

I have always assumed that KK will win, she has the money and media behind her, but it will be close enough to worth watching.

As an aside a lot of people I know have voted.

Crowdsourced voter fraud claims and fake videos are flooding social media, as the contest remains on a knife-edge.

Indeed.

We are now left with the following scenario with all this.

Either

1. Trump wins

Or

2. Trump loses, but actually won, because it was all rigged again.
