You've got to think that if Trump wins, Putin wins, and Ukraine falls. Moldova will probably be next.

Israel gets free rein in Palestine with all of the horrors that entails.

China might fancy a crack at Taiwan too, if it sees America retreating from the world.

Domestically, and in Europe, the far right get a big lift, and an indication of how to get into power through disruption, division, and flat out bullshit (and a bit of Russian and possibly Chinese interference, of course).

The rich almost certainly continue to get richer, but for everyone else it's a bit more worrying.

Not often mentioned, but Trump took hundreds of millions of dollars from Sheldon Adelson and in return did what you might expect with respect to Israel.

The mask has slipped

Elon Musk agrees: Trump’s economic plans will lead to ‘hardship’

The former president’s wealthy allies are promoting the idea of economic collapse and high prices as a necessary side effect of Trump’s economic agenda

Has it slipped, or do they know that most of his voters won't care one bit?

They could literally tell each one individually that Trump was going to murder their families and they'd still vote for him. As long as it keeps those 'lying' 'commie' left wing bastards out then that's all that matters.

America is a terrible advert for democracy and the likes of China and Russia must be loving showing the shitshow to their people and saying why it's such a bad idea.

This place is going to be interesting in the next week or so. The coverage and campaigns in this election are so childish on both sides. More like prom queen election than president of one of the biggest super powers in the world.

I’m sure we had at least one person on here voting for him apparently on economic grounds.

I’m expecting it to be as close as the Bush/Gore election in 2000, and far more hotly disputed afterwards. Though, like then, if Trump wins he will do so having lost the popular vote, which regardless of your own preference, is a bit of a joke.

I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t win. No doubt it will be the biggest and best and fairest election ever seen in history.

At least in our result, the party with the most popular votes won power.

We have 5-7 parties on the ballot paper.

In a 2 horse race its madness the winner of popular vote could lose in a landslide

The party with a quarter of the votes compared to another had ten times more seats.

…the party with the most votes won. If we want to be blunt, the US Senate is weighted in Republicans’ favour by granting places like Wyoming the same representation as California. The electoral college does something similar but to a lesser extent.

Or do you think the candidate with fewer votes should win?

If Trump wasn't such a nutcase there is no way she would be getting such a free ride.

Utterly useless politician that wasn't even selected in her home state of California during her abysmal run for president in 2020.

The whole thing is a complete shit show.

In the uk there have been occasions where the party with the lower vote share have had a majority in the commons

Why is she?

You’re just saying stuff you read online. She’s a big standard politician. Completely unremarkable. Oh no she didn’t win a presidential race before. What? So what?

Mate, that response actually made me laugh. Step out the echo chamber, or log out of reddit.

Harris is 'Bog standard' in your eyes. She's sub-standard in mine. Like I said, the benchmark is so low with Trump that she gets a free ride. There's some people that would vote for a scarecrow as long as it wasn't him. That's fine, but let's not try to pretend she's better than she is just because that is the case.

The Dems did not go through an election process, they had a free choice.

They could have chosen someone who would have walked it.
