He's just a bullshitter and out and out liar, who spreads false claim, after false claim.

He's just a vile individual.

From CNN

Trump on Wednesday was interviewed by a panel that included ABC News’ Rachel Scott, Semafor’s Kadia Goba and Fox News’ Harris Faulkner.

Scott began the interview by asking Trump: “You have pushed false claims about some of your rivals, from Nikki Haley to former President Barack Obama, saying that they were not born in the United States, which is not true. You have told four congresswomen of color, who were American citizens, to go back to where they came from. You have used words like ‘animal’ and ‘rabid’ to describe Black district attorneys. You have attacked Black journalists, calling them a ‘loser,’ saying the questions they ask are, quote, ‘stupid’ and ‘racist.’ You’ve had dinner with a White supremacist at your Mar-a-Lago resort. So my question, sir – now that you are asking Black supporters to vote for you, why should Black voters trust you after you have used language like that?”

Words fail me.

The odds are closing by the day and Harris has drawn level with Trump in the swing states.

Despite it being fairly obvious that Biden was going to step down, Trump and his team seem totally unprepared and are absolutely flailing.

It's definitely thrown in a curve ball.

It's seemingly completely backfired on them, because their campaign has been that Joe Biden shouldn't have even been running.

The minute they got their way, they seem to be stunned by the whole thing

What a c**t.

We all know Farage and Co are excellent at their dogwhistle racism, but this twat is just openly racist while running to be president of the US.

Although the more of this he comes out with, the worse it looks now against a senile opponent. I think he can talk himself out of the white house between now and the election.

I don't know how good Harris actually is but despite all the talk of Biden stepping aside it's like it's really thrown them for a loop. They had all the Sleepy Joe stuff lined up, devoted their entire rally to mocking him and all of a sudden they've had to panic and the main targets are that she laughs, hasn't given birth and has parents who have roots in different countries. Donald Trump with his Scottish mum and German grandparents should really be zeroing in on that.

A lot of Women's sport funding comes through Title 9

Essentially Colleges have to spend the same amount on Women's Sports as they do Mens (See Bend it like Beckham)

If they are allowing men to participate in women's sports, as many are, then yes there seems a case.

So totally no, but mainly probably. Obviously there is already a backlash, see that poor Italian girl who was beaten up.

Yes but no.

For you lot mostly in the UK and not US-based like myself, this could hypothetically be achieved with what is called an Executive Order.

It's a declaration of an action to take that bypasses the legislative process entirely. It has to hold up to review process and judicial scrutiny, but someone would have to actually challenge the order. In one sense, it can allow a President (the only person able to issue Executive Orders, as head of the Executive branch) to act quickly and decisively on a sudden emergency for action that otherwise could be delayed (or unlikely or impossible entirely) through the formal Legislative process---responding to natural disasters, declaring war (which historically is supposed to be declared through an Act of Congress), war material production, etc. In other instances, Orders have been reflective of reactionary sociopolitical fears in their historical context, such as banning Communists and LBGQ from federal employment. Positive (such as the Emancipation Proclamation) or Negative (interning Japanese-Americans involuntarily during WWII).

Many states already seem to have some sort of law prohibiting "biological men from competing in women's sports." But, for like school age scholastic sports. Individual adult age sporting federation seem to make their own rules which vary from organization and sport.

He can claim all he wants that he would "ban" such persons participating in sports generally. Not sure how successful he could be with such an initiative (for adult age sports, at least). One topic that theoretically the GOP believes strongly in, so called "State's Rights" to choose their own laws also conflicts with an apparent nationwide ban to form a contradiction. But a politician, or a political party, appearing contradictory isn't really news. In reality, one good guess is that it's simply something he can claim now he'd do once his hypothetical second term started, but like many politicians promises more than he could do just to secure voters. Such a ban through an actual legislative act of Congress would realistically just never happen due to the current close/even spread for both parties in both houses of Congress. It's a non starter, but representatives nevertheless will try to get such bills to the floor (even if they're doomed to fail, through no final vote or heavy defeat likely) just to showcase they are "doing what's right" (for whatever political purpose or side) and can use behwbior such to reinforce their re-election credentials to motivated partisan constituents.

This thread is overall a dumpster fire I try to avoid looking at and I otherwise don't have much to contribute (opinions of politics, that is), but as an educated Historian heavily studied in American history theses types of topics are still interesting and I'm happy to give context or information for anyone in UK or anyone otherwise not familiar with American politics or history.

Beaten up? Seriously?

I do think the fight shouldn't have happened and it WAS an unfair advantage.

She was hardly beaten up though. And it WAS boxing.

Have you actually watched it?

She was hit in the face by what in effect is a male. She clearly was distressed and it could have ended badly.

Cheek swab chromosomal test I believe, possible T levels as well. Both boxers tested XY (male) but the IOC goes by gender on passport I think.

AFAICT they’re males with a particular DSD similar to Semenya and shouldn’t be competing as females. In a lot of poorer countries people with intersex conditions won’t be diagnosed and will just be raised based on sight of genitals, plus there’s an incentive for coaches to scout people with DSDs if the IOC say they won’t test.

"Openly racist"

Its pretty obvious he is talking about trying to protect black workers from having their jobs taken by migrants.

Why would a racist who hates blacks care about their livelihoods?

Don't pretend to be dumb and that you don't know that many blacks come from poorer socioeconomic backgrounds and so are more at risk with high levels of non skilled workers entering the country. As are low socio-economic Whites but he is highlighting black people - which I would say is a good thing if he is looking out for their interests?

Pretty sure his supporters wouldn't appreciate that if they are all KKK members.

His company had a huge law suit against them for a discrimatory letting policy against blacks.
He settled out of court but the evidence is damning.

He rolled back legislation Obama introduced to try and make the housing market fairer and to increase black home ownership which lags significantly behind white home ownership.

He's mates with the likes of Bannon and Fuentes.
I'm sure that's just the tip of the iceberg.

I don't think it's just the racists that will be jumping on the back of the a DEI thing. The company I work for use American platform for learning (it's mostly videos, and most of the information is ahem, not great for anything practical).

What it does have is a raft of content that you are mandated to sit through on Diversity, Equality and Inclusion. I find it jarring (and largely pointless, if you have strong entrenched views, this ain't gonna change it) and almost condescending.

Personally I think if your old man has racist views then unless you call it out / separate yourself. If you follow the same pattern then I would be confident, you're no different.

Harris's paternal grandmother, born Christiana Brown, told Harris that she was descended from Irish-born plantation owner Hamilton Brown, who founded the local Anglican Church where she is buried. Hamilton Brown owned at least 1120 slaves, most of them on sugar plantations in Saint Ann Parish and was "instrumental in the importing of several hundred labourers and their families from Ireland to Jamaica between 1835 and 1840". Following the passing of the Slavery Abolition Act 1833 by the British Parliament, Brown received a compensation payment of £24,144 (equivalent to £2.89 million in 2024) from the government for the loss of his slaves.

The pick of JD Vance seems to be an enormous mistake on Trump’s part. That’s what you get for taking advice from Tucker Carlson and the Trump children I suppose.

For some context, Vance seems to be even more unpopular than Dan Quayle, which takes some doing.
