Thanks. No NATO I expect would be one of the obvious demands, was just wondering what they were also prepared to give up at that stage.

No nato
Restrictions on size of Ukrainian military
Crimea out the question
Donetsk/lugansk to be decided later (likely same deal as Minsk agreements)
Denazification - not quite clear how this would be achieved but the Ukrainians agreed to it
Protection of Russian speakers

Ukraine rejected that and after that the terms became far worse.

Now donetsk/lugansk as well as two other regions are off the table and Ukrainian withdrawal from donbass is needed to even start negotiations.

Russia no longer considers Zelensky legitimate as his presidential term expired in May and according to them the Ukrainian constitution does not allow him to continue as president. Meaning in reality to sign any peace treaty zelensky will need to be removed.

I've just realised we are derailing the dornald blumpf thread - can anyone move it?

Presumably the denazification referred to the Neo-Nazis like the Azov Brigade.

Good news for Harris

U.S. economy grew at a 2.8% pace in the second quarter, much more than expected

Gross domestic product in the second quarter was expected to show a 2.1% annualized increase.

Yeah, I think it's something like that. Or at least many speak both.

I think they were all forced to speak Russian during the soviet years and Stalinism.

To be fair to trump (and I’m no fan) he’s better off meeting with Netanyahu than ignoring him. He’s also come out and said Israel should end the war and basically blamed Netanyahu for not stopping the Hamas attack in the first place. Sounds like he’s maybe telling Netanyahu a few home truths which might help.

Let’s see what’s said after the meeting tomorrow though, knowing trump it might be something completely different !

He says all sorts of stuff though doesn't he, so I have trouble believing anything he says. Didn't he call Kim Jong Un his friend?

and rocket man

Yeah, can change with the wind but I don’t recall many/any western leaders explicitly calling for Netanyahu to stop the war. Might well be a different message tomorrow though especially if Netanyahu says some nice things about him

ps knowing trump he’s also seen the anti government Palestinian protests and thought there’s maybe an angle to their support

Don't know if this guy is credible this is the only video of his I've seen but he raises some interesting points.

Blackrock is certainly a very murky organisation that's buying up half of ukraine and has its fingers in every pie.

Why is it that both Biden and Trump are really strange characters? How did it get to them being the choice? (Well, before Biden pulled out)

Biden wasn’t particularly strange in 2020, the last year he’s clearly slowed and made more flubs. But he’s been a fairly normal American guy before, well for a politician.

Trump is a product of the internet and meme culture so was selected for being weird really. Easy to make memes out of Trump speeches.

But leadership in politics makes people weird IMO. You see it so much, Sunak and Milliband spring to mind here. Having the media all over you and being surrounded by people telling you what to do means you can’t relax into yourself at all unless you’ve got Blair levels of narcissistic confidence.

I think a lot of that was clipped and cropped videos and over analysis which happens with every politician and public figure. If it was someone IRL it probably wouldn’t even register let alone be a talking point for years later.

handy for whoever stands in the next election if the current candidate for President tells them they never need to bother voting again

How can anyone watch this guy speak and think this is who should be running the country

I would like to see the actual footage in full, rather than clipped video.

Really hard to know what's real anymore isn't it.

That's shite, not very funny and deeply racist and mysoginistic. If that is the best the Republicans could come up with.... then Trump has no chance and might as well give up on the White House now. They are very worried about Harris as her intellect just blows baby Trump out the water. That said Harris needs to reach out to the working class more in states as her appeal and call out to middle classes is not going to help.

Even if it is he still leans over a sniffs a young girls hair with a look of pleasure on his face. Doesn't need a whole load of context - it's still creepy and weird. he has also been a bit 'handsy' with young females during photoshoots as well, touching them for an uncomfortable amount of time. I don't think he's some kind of predator and there a people who are like that but they are no danger.

And of course I have to point out that what he has done is absolutely nothing in comparison to Trump. He is a danger to women. I don't believe Biden is/was.

As has been mentioned if he wins he can't run next time and Trump only cares about himself.

But at the same time it has been rumoured that those around him that are smart enough are getting ready to purge as many people as they can to fill the positions with Trump fanatics and they're going to be far more careful this time. It wouldn't put it past Trump to try and change the voting procedure and he would happily turn the country into his own dictatorship tomorrow if given the chance.

No matter what happens in this election it will get messy. Either if he loses the election and once again refuses to accept the result, which is a foregone conclusion, or he will try and increase his own power and will rally his supporters against those trying to stop him.

It's funny how everyone is obsessing over Dictator Dronard Blumpf and ignoring the fact that the side who is "battling to save democracy" literally just denied democrat voters the chance to vote for their nominee. 14 million people voted for Biden in the primaries - Harris 0.

Harris clearly knew about Bidens decline and said nothing - then she (or more ikely the actual people in charge) waited until the primaries were done, then arranged the debate way ahead of schedule to make a show of Bidens cognitive decline to get him out and replace with Harris.

She managed, within 24 hours of the announcement to raise 80 million dollars in donations- it was all planned in advance.

She wouldn't have got a single vote if she had campaigned in the primaries (like the previous election) and once again the DNC has abused the democratic process and screwed their members over.

But please do continue to lecture us about the nazi orange man.
