I don't think he's got the same level of ammunition against Harris as there was against Clinton. But while you also say that Clinton's defeat in 2016 was more about her, i am still not sure certain parts of the US would contemplate voting in a black woman.

You’re right, but those states would probably never vote for a Democrat anyway. The election now gets decided in the swing states which are all that matter

No i didn't.

I suggested that because of Trump's open misogyny and other comments that could clearly be seen to be racist about it would be bizarre for women and people of colour to vote for him.

I met some women American tourists from Texas just before the 2016 election just after it was reported about what he said about his daughter, that he thought that it was ok to touch a woman's fanny & various sex assault accusations against him and there was no way they were going to vote for anyone else.

Yeah, you're probably right. PA and MI will probably decide it - and there are significant black populations in the major cities in both of those states (e.g. Detroit and Philly) who might see that someone they can associate more closely with could be someone they might be more likely to vote for.

Why? Because he's now running against a black women?

Your exact word were, "It really would be bizarre for any woman or person of colour to vote Trump now." So why wouldn't it be an issue if he was running against Biden?

I think we'll have to agree to disagree, quite frankly I'm not that interested in American politics.
Biden has had his own criticisms and allegations about his attitude and actions in relation to women. I can see why some might feel neither he nor Trump would represent their interests. So yes her taking over from Biden should result in more natural support.

So your post. Does that represent your views of people of colour?

I see Kerry Katona has thrown her weight behind Trump's campaign. That's that settled, then!

All of the 'celebrity' endorsements are silly. The BBC have done a whole article on whose endorsing Harris and it quite frankly embarrassing.

Celebrities praise Joe Biden and rally round Kamala Harris

Famous faces are quick to pay tribute to the US president, after he says he won't stand for re-election.

Apparently Harris is marginally ahead of Trump in the first significant poll since Biden stepped down. Could be new manager bounce, might be the start of something bigger building, who knows, time will tell. Either way the Trump camp is sweating over it, which is apparently why he’s regretting his VP choice as he would have gone another direction had he known he’d be running against Harris. Also they’ve lost their main battle cry of sleepy joe is too old. Trump now officially the oldest ever candidate to face US voters for the presidency and will be the oldest president in US history before the end of the next term. Be stupid for Harris to run on that ticket but commentators already going to town on it. Trump looks to be chickening out of debates too.

Her first speech was decent, nice change from Trump's rambling nonsense and Biden not seeming to know where he was.

Trump going with 'I agreed to debate Biden' to give him a get out of having to debate Harris and also complaining about the network the next debate is due to be aired on.

Going to be interesting for sure. Trumps hardcore MAGA idiots obviously aren't going to change their votes but I'd imagine behind the scenes the Trump campaign have more concerns now than they did a few days ago.

The odds on a Democrat win have already shortened significantly.

Doesn't seem so much of a done deal now.

Here's hoping.

It’s good to know that even if the Democrats lose and try to prevent Trump being sworn in as president and their supporters engage in domestic terrorism, it won’t be allowed to be mentioned on this thread.

It's a madness. A racist and a rapist, yet some on here say they would still vote for him

That's not forgetting his "grab a woman by the pussy" comment too.

Disgusting excuse for a human being and that's not taking any political side.

I don't care who it is, I couldn't vote for anyone who was racist, a rapist and a misogynist too.

He ticks so many boxes. Unfortunately all of them are the wrong ones.

It’s such a worry/so bewildering that he’s even able to get a platform, let alone stand a good chance of being re-elected.

While it affects all of us, my parents were on one of these holidays last year, one where you go with a bunch of other people, many of whom were Americans.
A few different groups that they spoke with were apparently terrified. Seemingly cant comprehend what is happening.

Same thing isn’t? All woke means is you’re not an arsehole as far as I can tell. Certainly by the definition of woke that those who band it around as an insult use.
