Scottish side Aberdeen are ready to clinch a deal for Liverpool midfielder Leighton Clarkson - despite a late move from Coventry.
The Dons have been working in bringing back Clarkson permanently after a successful loan spell and they are set to meet the asking price.
Coventry took a strong interest this week as they try to bolster their squad for the next promotion push.
However the Aberdeen move appeals to Clarkson who is willing to show what he can do in the SPFL.
He was on loan at Aberdeen last year so why does Nixon think he needs to show what he can do in the SPFL?

Yeah he's not bad but as you say not better than the first XI and he is not likely to want to come unless he is in the first team.Last season statistics.

Not bad for a CM, less goals in all comps than Jamie Allen, but more assists.
A good player, wouldn't be a priority signing for me though, need to strengthen in other areas of the pitch.
I can predict what is going to happen now.
We are going to go into a week before the season still needing 7-8 players due to the quantity we need to fill a team.
Our first few games we will play a makeshift team with Mark Robins saying new signings are 'Immanent', and have a poor start because of this.
We'll then make about 4 panic loan signings on the last day of the transfer window who will take some time to get up to speed. All of whom will be 18-19 year olds with no prior experience anywhere.

Like you said, people are going to be pissed off as we didn'tget him as per, but shows we are looking into the right sort of players.Another thing on Clarkson, if Sky are to be believed playing in Europe was a major factor in Clarkson choosing Aberdeen.
Not something we can offer. As I said before, he's a good player, add to that I'm happy we are looking at this type of player, but our priority should be other areas of the pitch, for which are options are short.
