Yes. Refer to our meager squad at Wembley.

We’re in good form, but Allen, Sheaf, Eccles and Lati to cover the 2 CM positions is just not good enough nor deep enough. Bare in mind Lati needs to cover RB and CB too.

MR not putting on Kelly (or McFadz to a lesser extent) on yesterday suggests he isn’t going to use him unless it’s desperate.

All the work of identifying players will of been done, but the key to which way we go is getting an answer off Callum. I still think we will see some movement no matter the outcome. But his decision will have a massive effect on how we decide to go and where money is spent. I am still of the opinion, Robins and Doug have a difference of opinion on the players worth and probably are looking at it from 2 different points of view.

I think Callum will want to see his contract out and pick his best option during the summer.

I can still see 1 or 2 other areas being covered and a few like Moore moved on and others getting loaned out. No need to panic or be frustrated the club know exactly what they have and what they need. I also think they are fully aware of maximizing players values and knowing the worth of any investment into a player. We are in good hands and if not good sensible and very shrewd hands with Robins at the center of it all.

I think the best we can hope for is getting him to agree to a 1 year extension. That way it doesn't stop him going in the summer if he's got better options but the club will at least get something back by way of a fee. At the end of the day he's got to do what's best for him but I would hope that the club standing buy him through his injuries would go at least some way towards a compromise

I think the only way we get him to sign a 1 year extension is to add a load of release clauses in his favour. Promises that he can move in the summer if he still wants one. He'd get a longer deal with a massive wage hike elsewhere. Surely he needs that security after an injury like he had.

Our status come the end of the season may have a bearing on it. But if we are in the prem, would the club put an offer on the table. That's his risk, from what i hear someone isn't willing to change his mind of the value of the player. And the ball is now firmly back in the players court, one thing is for sure i dont think the club will be put in this position again while we are this ownership.

I’m fucking bored, need some rumours instead of speculation about O’Hare’s contract. It’s not a transfer so not sure we keep banging on about it in this thread

Goes to show how far the club has come in a very short space of time. We are genuinely looking forward to new signings as they are likely to be owned by the club. COH signing would be the icing on the cake.

Similarly the club is entitled to have some caution after the injury he had

Yep exactly, timing is terrible for the club. 18 month out and barely a couple of months for them to asses where he is at form and fitness wise. If the rumour that he wants to match the highest earners are true then I can't see us taking on that risk.

Who knows what's going on but I do feel there are probably clubs that could blow anything we are likely to offer wage wise out the water.

If we get promoted it all changes. Everything changes, so i assume as this is the aim the process is very driven to that goal. So you are looking at who and what you need on and off the field. And the economy of all, current contracts are big within that.

Every clubs aim is the prem, but realistically how many are building a foundation to do it and sustain it. This is now a business that doesn't stand still or is kind to bad mistakes that happen multiple times, callum may have prem in his mind as an option, if we are there do the club feel he is that standard.

The squad looks healthy at the minute with no injuries (which is unheard of). As soon as three or four get injured it becomes a different story.

Seen one website say we should look at WBA Tom Fellows… out of contract in the summer, 20
Years old, looks a good prospect to be fair.

Crazy that people don't think we need wingers.

Last season we lost O'Hare, Palmer, Sheaf & Allen to our CM/CAM positions and only had Howley and JWE as cover (who is a left back).

We need cover for Wright & Sakamoto desperately - JDS (a left back) and Palmer (a no. 10) are not sufficient.

If we’re being brutal I’d say GK, CB, LB and ST could all be upgraded as well if the right player came along.

Think we need a long term back up/compete with Collins . Centre back I would like us to sign a Brekalo type as well as Binks . Not sure we are that desperate for a left back but we do need a similar striker to Simms to play up top.
I would swap the left back for a versatile wide forward who could play both flanks

That’s backup though, we aren’t going to upgrade Wright or Saka in all likelihood. If for the sake of argument a left footed MvE turned up (young quick decent defensively high potential resale) I could see us going for them.

Absolutely but in the short term left back isn't a massive priority, for all the negativity about DaSilva he is a more than adequate back up

Yeah I get that but they don't come up often in January . Brekalo could be an exception as the Norwegian league has finished but generally it is loans or short term deals in the January window

Reading back through this lot and a thought struck me, what we really need is another Latibeaudiere. His versatility is a massive boost at the moment, if we could find another Lati to provide effective cover for the left hand side of the pitch we'd be laughing.

Panzo was great up until the New Year, and then lost his place to Doyle. Then he only got the odd minute here & there. Think he could be some player though.

That would be fine, but doesn't solve the problem of what to do if Haji or Tats aren't available for any reason (including international duty). A forward who can play wide both sides would be a better 'utility' signing atm.

Yes we basically have four players for three positions. It's certainly the area that needs strengthening. Wright and Sakamoto are playing really well but they can't play every match.

It’s part of the appeal of Styles for me, having played LWB and not being a midget like Dasilva he might give us the cover at LB as well as CM.
