The club know what CoH wants. The 2 parties were not aligned, hence COh comment no contract been presented.

He will stay at what he believes his worth is, suspect we may move a little, but like Hamer, if he wanted to stay with a decent offer from
Club, he would have.

Good luck to him, he doesn’t owe the club anything which some seem to think he does.

Bollox
Course he does we gsve him his first team chance and have paid his wages for no work performance for almost a year!
Doesn’t mean he’ll stay but there’s mutual respect there
The things certain are
He will be sold if he doesn’t sign during January
Robins loves him
Ohare loves robins
He’s hugely popular in the squad
He’s hugely popular to the fans

he’s the last of the 3 stars but we are already seeing the rise of others

We wouldn’t get much money for him in Jan considering he can go for a free in summer, so keeping him till the end of the season will give us the best chance of a push for the playoffs

This is the crux of the clubs dilemma

What fee in January is the minimum we need to make the decision to let him go the right one ?

In reality we are chasing the 6th play off spot. At a push 5th or 6th spot. The others have gone already.

It’s easy to say turn down the money and focus on the play off push but if we fall short we then have to replace COH in the summer with an even smaller pot of money.

Nobody will offer £3-4m with 6 months left on his contract. Unless it’s a gamble by a Luton Burnley or SU to stay in the Prem.

Snap your hand off for that much if he's not going to sign (which I hope he does.) Still think we got very good money for Hamer considering.

We wouldn’t be able to get a player like him at his stage, so I would keep CoH and spend some of the Gus money on the next one with a few years of development needed to replace him. Then spend a decent amount on that Gus replacement we still need.

I agree. Surely it's not worth selling him for that. Might as well gamble on him helping us to get to the play offs.

And would we refuse that?
Statement if so but we mustn’t allow any of our better players to have less than 12 months left again

I know there was a big reason why this has happened

Gets you Callum Styles on a perm. If he won't sign, it's good business.

It's unavoidable sometimes and certainly was in this case. Giving some players overly long contracts can be equally as risky.

Depends on the player and league position at the time of the offer I guess. We’ve closed the gap on top six recently which if we keep it up, hopefully makes us a more attractive option for new players….and ohare to stay…come on Cal, sign up, it’s Christmas !

If he chooses not to sign and starts looking elsewhere this also represents a huge gamble on his part too remember - imagine the scenario if he doesn’t sign then in the latter part of this season he picks up another serious injury!
This is not that straightforward or a done deal yet - anything could happen.
He should sign now for a year with a buyout clause inserted - this makes perfect sense to me and shows some loyalty to the club which stood by him for that year when he was out of action.

Is he any better than what we have? I don't know but am not sure he is. Isn't he more of a central midfield player anyway. If O'Hare went we need a number 10 and a centre forward.

Leeds don’t need him. However the PL bottom 3 certainly might for their promotion pushes next season.

The risk to his value is his injury not his potential
Certainly reduces his fee but 3-4 yr contract for £4m player who has you competing at top of championship and maybe higher
No brainer surely

Centre mid who’s played a lot of time at LWB. Think he’d fit in the 433 lineup very well. Agree though we’d still need O’Hare or another number 10. That’s maybe where Twine comes into the equation.

Look at it from the buyers perspective. A player who is out of contract in six months and has had a huge amount of time out with a serious injury. It’s not a combination that draws a big offer. We’ll look to sell him in Jan and he and his agent will want a summer move with a fair chunk of the saved transfer fee split between them.

I didn't say he was I just meant you get 2 million which pays for his fee and you own him for 4 years or whatever. No brainer to me. O'Hare would still have to be replaced elsewhere.

O'Hare being offered a big bucks new contract is a really tough one. Today and in many earlier matches he has looked a bit off the pace and reluctant to tackle like he used to. Against Birmingham and in glimpses at Sunderland he looked back to his best. I still think he has some way to go to regain his consistent form before his injuries and may struggle with two games a week. There is still that lingering doubt his injury may recur. We look mugs if he leaves on a free and prospers, or we pay him a fortune and he breaks down. The outcome is in the laps of the Gods (and our staff). Clearly we can't get away with the one year contracts we offered Jodie Jones

I’d risk paying him a big salary. So if he’s worth £2m to someone he must be worth £750k to us.

5k per week over 3 years on top of his wages may not be enough for him?

Sounds like he wants £25k/wk as that’s what Wright is on.

That’s £5.2m over a four year deal, though it would probably be 3.5 so more like £4.5m

I’d argue we’ll be spending that on wages and fee for a replacement anyway. £10k/wk is £1.8m over three and a half years, and that’s at the cheap end. So the question is is he worth £2.5m give or take? I think the answer is obviously yes. For about the same cash if not a little more you’re getting Scott Twine who has hardly set the division alight.
