Your friendly American - MLS media guy here. Pereira has obviously been linked to Cov before.

As I have said previously, he is a really solid ball-secure midfielder who can pick a pass from deep-lying areas.

Coventry City are reported to be “close” to signing Venezuelan international midfielder Daniel Pereira.

The 25-year-old central midfielder currently plays for MLS side Austin FC but is reported to be on his way to the CBS Arena to join the Sky Blues as Frank Lampard looks to strengthen his squad this summer.

from the CT aka SBT hahahaha

Don't worry the orange clown will probably send Ice to deport him regardless of his Green Card.

Central midfield isn’t where we need to be spending.

While it’s not where I would look to spend money, a good box to box would be a big help considering her vertical our midfield three can be with Grimes dropping back into the CBs and the AM playing higher up

As an Eccles upgrade perhaps, though I don’t see much wrong with Eccles in the first place.

Eccles has a very limited ceiling. He's a hard-working player but he's not a great passer, finisher, tackler or chance creator. He's fine at some of them, but that's not enough.

The numbers he's hitting for pass and long pass accuracy stats are very impressive.

Looks like a tidy player, seems quick too for a cm. One thing I’d possibly be worried about is his positioning as he seems to be all over the pitch however having grimes sitting can accommodate that. Positive signing

I disagree some. Feel like we’re definitely still missing that aggressive progressive player in the middle. Our best midfielder players are more defensively minded.

Given our aspirations Allen can’t be relied on. Eccles might also enter that bracket.

He came up as more of a high #8/#10 as a youth player before shifting further back as a professional. Has some on-ball creativity that you typically don't see from deeper-lying midfielders in this league. Honestly, I think he is at his best when given the freedom to go and find the game rather than doggedly worrying about rest defense responsibilities.

Asked Austin fans on Reddit and they said he’s best as an 8, but played deeper this season because he’s their best midfielder and the manager wants him to be on the ball as much as possible - which has limited his attacking output.

Like I said in the other thread, I think some of you are missing what is in front of you here.

If this is going to happen (and I use this lightly as we know the football scouting world is full of nonsense), how are we going to have a team with Grimes, Sheaf and Pereira in? Seems massively overkill to me.
