Puts me In mind of a lad I worked with a fair few years back .

He was a MU fan ,don't remember which team they were playing but they were ambushed and one of his pals ended In the drink and drowned.

I remember being at Filbert Street in the seventies and about half a dozen of us Cov fans were ambushed by a load of Leicester fans in a side street not far from the ground.As we were outnumbered our bottle went so we legged it in different directions.I managed with a mate to get away but a couple weren't so lucky and got a bad kicking,but one lad jumped in the canal and he came up to us later on covered in slime head to foot ! We had a laugh about it but he could have drowned and the two that got beat up had a night in hospital.
