it was a bit weird. first time thought it was going to be some dick head landing on the pitch.

would you not need permission to fly one of those? you can't even send a drone up above a certain height without permission can you?

Didn’t Sky Sports employ a sky diver, or similar, during the razzmatazz of the early Premier League days? Think it was a game at Villa - the guy crashed into the stand and died

Excellent memory I have: Turns out it was 6 years after the PL started and the guy didn’t die, merely lost a leg.

13 December 1998: Parachutist hits Villa Park roof

Nigel Rogoff, an RAF parachutist and veteran of 6,000 jumps, lost a leg after he hit the Villa Park stands

Should never parachute drunk. He was legless apparently.

No permission required unless its restricted air zone which the cbs isnt. Perfectly legal to fly where you want

The stadium used to show up as restricted on drone apps.

He was being a complete plum. Could not have broken any more rules.

From the Air Navigation Order

Except with the permission in writing of the CAA, an aircraft flying over a congested area of a city town or settlement shall not fly below a height of 1,000 feet above the highest fixed obstacle within a horizontal radius of 600 metres of the aircraft.

I’d suggest a stadium with 26,000 people inside counts as a congested area. Besides, there’s another rule which covers that.

Except with the permission in writing of the CAA, an aircraft shall not fly over an organised open-air assembly of more than 1,000 persons below—
(i)
a height of 1,000 feet, or
(ii)
such height as will permit, in the event of a power unit failure, the aircraft to alight clear of the assembly,
whichever is the higher.

I’d say he broke the bery basic rule anyway which is…..

Except with the permission in writing of the CAA, an aircraft shall not be flown closer than 500 feet to any person, vessel, vehicle or structure.

It’s my job to know such fun and riveting info.
Contrary to how it may appear, I’ve been told that I am actually fun at parties.

I reckon it was big Sam Allardyce having a peek and giving us the once over.

And he was flying so low due to the fact he is such a big bloke and the machine simply struggled to handle his weight.

Was he picking someone up after the game so they could get away quickly without being stuck in traffic on the A444

I dont remember the ref stopping the game because of it or did I miss that ?

Coventry vs Luton temporarily halted as man flies over football stadium

Coventry secured an eye-catching comeback victory over Championship rivals Luton on Saturday afternoon but the game was paused after a bizarre incident in the East Midlands

Ref completely missed it the first time, about in line with the rest of his afternoon. But the second time he flew over ref spotted him and stopped the game.

I must have been to interested in the paraglider to have noticed then cheers.
if thats the case and he interupted the game then surely questions need to be asked of him from the relevant authorities

TBF when he came back he was very low and Ref might have thought he was coming down. He had an orange para. Perhaps he was a Luton supporter.

It was for less than a minute, the guy looked like he might be about to try and land on the pitch but flew away again.

There were a lot of feathers floating down from the roof in the corner I was in, throughout the game. Anyone know why? Pigeons being plucked on the roof or maybe this guy got a few stuck in his wosname dooby fan thing.

Think they'll have to follow up and make sure there's no Mal intent on anyone's part!

I was more fascinated by the half time 'sprinklergate' entertainment... a blatant attempt by MR to flood the pitch and get the game called off. Thank fook they didn't.

Must be a glitch, didn't Sunderland also have a problem at the start of their match?
