Made around 100 appearances in the last 10 years. Obviously been without a club since released by Everton in June.

Key for me will be how fit he is. Has he been training with a club? Keeping fit?

Last thing we need is another Ramage situation.

He's certainly no Ramage, a well experienced Premier League full-back with a lot of ability, would fit perfectly into an experienced back four of what Slade will try and build.

I've a couple of Everton mates out here who said he stole a living as a footballer even on the rare occasions he was fit. At 35 and having not played this season their advice was to steer well clear.

A better player than Ramage, but probably further off the pace than Cole and Hunt were.

No worse gamble than Reda. Could be a clever move, but don't expect goals this man is close to holding the record number of Premiership games without scoring.

Slade is definitely looking to shore up a leaky defence.

I know you don't go to the matches but come off it, we experimented in this way this time last year to disastrous results.

Not if it means consecutive games without scoring.

More deadwood, if the rumour is true. Bloody hell...can see it now, Hibbert on his arse sweating and puking, after giving away a second goal.

Lets hope he stays there until Feb, i seen Charlton Cole name mentioned and feel the same way about him. Best days behind them, would not give a shit about the club and we would not be able to give them enough money for them to consider running round a field as worth it.

We are in tough spot and need good players, not were good players. We need younger, fitter and something to prove type players, Stokes is a perfect example of where desire and hard work can get you. The way we are going we have nothing to lose in signing 5 free 24- 28 year old's with something to prove, even if we don't stay up some of them players could fit into a squad for next year in a lower standard. Bringing in the likes of Hibbert does nothing for the team in fact would be twice as hard for him to get his fitness and find his feet in the standard we are at .

You have to give those sort of players longer contracts, 2 years plus.
I think that isn't on the cards for more experienced players at present.
I would think it is loans and short term deals only. Will be surprised if anyone over 21 gets longer.

Yeah i understand, but im thinking on the lines of a Stokes type deal, short term with a club option to extend. He is the right age, ability and has more desire to work hard and prove himself than god given talent. I would be looking out for those types of players, they will not care about the club just be runnong through walls to feed a family or extend a career.

I remember all the people on this forum when Cole and Hunt came and were literally wetting them selves with juice at the thought, I for one was right from the start against it ( go on check it on my past posts) , Cole fucked up our season for sure and the icing on the cake was the follow on dads army , Hunt et al

SO NO FUCK OFF MONEY GRABBERS

Yeah they might have bud, its sometime's the best way to go and think its something our club should do more, unless you see a Stevenson and get him on a bigger length of contract. I would be looking at free agents with a Stokes type of deal in place, fear and desire drives players, another years salary is a big thing for an unemployed player. If you do this enough and have a good enough network every now and then a few may workout and provide the club exactly what the model is.

As much as i hate the owners i would prefer them to do this than waste time and money on Henderson's, Hunt's and Ramage's of this world.
