If as some have suggested, some players had downed tools, it could be very telling who gets picked tomorrow.

I think it's more likely to be coincidence if he does start than indicative of a falling out.

As will the performance and tactics.

I think it could be significantly different to what we've seen this season.

Id agree. He comes across as not knowing what day of the week it is let alone kicking off

I went to the Coundon meet the players with him and Eccles last year and it was pretty informative. He's clearly very introverted and shy

There is absolutely zero chance mark robins has been leaving simms out the squad for no reason.

Why do fans think this way

Downing tools earning thousand of pounds a week whilst working in one of of most desirable careers on the planet

Don't think it's true by the way and if it is shows how detached from reality they are. They should try working in the real world where people get sacked regularly, where change and working for different people who you do and don't get on with is part and parcel of working life in the real world.

If there is a disciplinary reason then that wouldn’t be leaving him out of the squad for no reason?

There were murmuring on social media yesterday morning, prior to Robins being sacked, that Simms wasn’t injured and had been dropped for non-footballing reasons. I don’t personally believe it based on Simms character but I did think Robins answers on him were a bit odd both post Middlesbrough and Derby. Add onto that that ITKs on here originally said Simms was ill prior to kick off vs Middlesbrough and there is reason to raise a slight eyebrow.

Couple of players who have been rumoured to have downed tools / wanted Robins out. Can't imagine Simms is one given his last game he worked his arse off.

Doesn't seem the type to be causing Robins a disciplinary headache but you never know.

The problem with these rumours is if people get it in their heads that certain players have played a role in getting Robins fired I can pretty easily see them getting on the individual players backs.

Not sure how you get round that as obviously the club can't go down the route of confirming or denying every rumour of this type.

Hope Simms is back. Got something to prove to Sunderland fans who wanted him back there after his loan spell then rubbished him when he came to us.

My guess would be Kitching and Collins with maybe a bit of Norman in there

If a 19 yo, who's been here 5 minutes, is downing tools, then Dean Austin should be picking up his P45 before Robins.

In the second part of CoventryLive’s in-depth interview with Dr Roberts, she explains: “At the moment I am working really closely with Dean (Austin) and the recruitment team to make sure that the people we are thinking of signing have got the right sort of character profile; the right psychological profile to fit into our existing team.

“And secondly, to make sure that we have got decent human beings in the squad that are going to want to develop and play, and don’t have an ego. People who are going to respond well to coaching and be able to meet the psychological demands of the game.

“We can do all the fitness testing and medical testing in the world. Everyone does that and there’s nothing different in what we do from the physical assessment side of things, but we are looking at how we measure character and how we select players on the basis of their psychological profile that’s going to enable us to get the best out of them. So that’s one element of my role.”

She added: “My background is in psychology, and the team dynamic of Coventry City is one of the most important things for us. We want to make sure that those individuals gel and are cohesive, want to support and play for each other and are able to build, foster and sustain really strong relationships not just with each other but with the performance staff and coaching team as well.

“So in terms of my expertise, I want to make sure I bring that to help our player selection, so I am working really closely with Dean and his team to make sure we understand as much as possible about the players that we are bringing in.”

Simms is one of very few players who actually live in Coventry (Earlsdon I think)....seen a fair few photos of him with young fans who have seen him out and about, always seems a nice polite bloke.

But the version who played against Luton was impressive.

If anyone has downed tools (and I don't for a second think that Simms comes across as that sort of character), then they should be shipped out at the earliest possible opportunity, whoever the new manager is.

Some people genuinely believe Simms put his best performance of the season in, got a goal and then decided to go on strike. It's madness.

I would doubt any player has downed tools because at the end of the day they're selfish. They'll play for their own careers if not the team.

No one downed tools. We had 2 good performances followed by a poor one for 60 mins against derby where if Rudi doesn’t make the simple mistake, we’d have won and no one would have batted at eyelid

They signed a player who upped and left his old club without telling them didn’t they?

Why such hatred? It's his character and being laid back is a quality for young strikers. He will play in PL again.

It's weird that she doesn't want players who have an ego. Top footballers are necessarily egotistic? Gyokeres wouldn't have been signed under those measures.
