Tom Lockyer has collapsed again whilst playing for Luton away against Bournemouth. According to reports, there was noone around him when he fell to the ground. Was treated on the pitch and the players had been returned to the changing rooms. Ref has now abandoned the game after 65 mins and the score 1-1. Tunnel comments have said that he is awake and alert.

Members may remember Lockyer collapsed during the Playoff Final against us in May and had to have heart surgery.

This football fans' best wishes go out to him.

Wasn't he fitted with a pacemaker to regulate the heart beats ?

Echo the OPs sentiments .
We all get emotional about the game we love but it is just a game and players have families and loved ones .
Speedy recovery too him and hopefully he gets proper medical advice before he makes any decision about playing on

Is it AF? Very serious version if he’s collapsing from it. from the reports it sounded like SVT (which I had/have) and he had ablations for it (which I also had).

Problem might be how his heart is responding to elite level sports , I'd imagine he can exercise but may need to retire from top level football

It can make you dizzy as you probably know and playing football at that level he's probably just felt really dizzy and fainted after his heart became irregular

From the level of treatment he got I assumed he’d actually had a heart attack by overloading it (same thing happened to a colleague of mine) but I’ve never seen a complete explanation.

Our medical staff have confirmed that the Hatters captain suffered cardiac arrest on the pitch, but was responsive by the time he was taken off on the stretcher. He received further treatment inside the stadium, for which we once again thank the medical teams from both sides. Tom was transferred to hospital, where we can reassure supporters that he is stable and currently undergoing further tests with his family at his bedside. We would like to thank everyone for their support, concern and loving messages for Locks.

I'd be surprised if there are any insurance companies that will cover him to play now, it's a real shame for him but he has to put his health and his family first.

Best wishes to him and hope he makes a full recovery for his families sake. He needs to retire.

And if it helps them go down then even better

If he makes a full recovery that's more important than football.

And I hope he does make a full recovery

I hope it also hammers a nail into the coffin of Luton’s relegation , nothing against him personally.

Mrs and kids at home. He needs to have a serious sit down with himself for a tough, but easy decision.

Poor lad, was actually a very good centre back, has to retire now surely before anything worse happens. Best wishes goes out to him, but its not worth the risk
