I've seen evidence that since the Corona virus outbreak and the ensuing shortages of loo roll in the shops , what's gone back on the shelves is a national scandal : the cardboard in the middle is of larger diameter.
We're being ripped off. Bastards.

Went to the supermarket today.
No bathroom tissue on the shelves (again).
That's about 6 weeks now it's been unavailable.
I'm assuming they get some in and it immediately gets sold.
The supermarket employees probably tip off their friends and relatives.
Unless you happen to be there on the right day and time, you'll never see it.

Been doing the bulk of my shopping on line with a home delivery and not yet been unable to get toilet roll and on the odd occasion I have had to go into the local shop there’s always been plenty on the shelves for a good couple of weeks now. Surprised to here that there’s still shortages and price increases. Not my experience at all.

In all seriousnes what I have noticed is a definite increase in prices from the robbing bastards. They're busier than ever and profiteering in the same way people moan at small shops charging high vslue on eg loo roll or sanitisation products. Theirs is more subtle with a few pence on everything.

You will be looking at a different brand than normal. Their sheet count will most probably be similar but the paper of a lower quality and thinner. So to make up for this they use a larger core size.

On most paper converting machines it can be quite a large engineering change to change the core size. The newer the machine the easier it should be.

This is definitely happening, i would say my usual weekly shop has increased about 30% and this is at low price Aldi who then crow about paying their staff a 10% bonus for working through this crisis, I'm not saying they shouldn't get a bonus for clarity, but i don't think the company should try and take the credit when it's the customers who are paying for it.

Have only noticed small increases on normal prices. But what I have noticed is much less special offers. My favourite baked beans are Branston. Used to get a pack of 4 tins for £1.50. Now you are lucky if you can get 3 tins for the same price. I drink Strongbow. Used to be able to get them for £11 a case. But now £13 A case everywhere. JD's honey is my tipple of choice. Normally find one size at a lower price. Not seen that happen for weeks. I use Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. Their prices are now very similar. Used to check the prices of the more expensive items I would be buying before going shopping. Now just check which has the shorter queues.

Well, the new normal for me is going to be Cushelle, which I'd been forced to try as an alternative to my usual Andrex. Hadn't realised that Andrex's quality had gone down the pan,

Demand and supply will change the prices - you should expect prices to rise for somethings - interestingly freight prices should go down as the fuel is low - I haven’t seen this click in yet - our local shop immediately limited numbers on loo roll paracetamol and actually we never ran out - yeast was tricky but flour is readily available In the sticks

I buy it but I am not sure why yesterday I bought the limited edition cherry blossom ASDA one, think I might keep it as it’s a limited edition

It’s a bit of a dilemma really. Do you choose a lower quality where you need 3 sheets per wipe or a high quality high price brand where you need only 2 sheets? I feel a spreadsheet coming on.

Are you supposed to sniff before or after the wipe? Just to see how strong the scent is, like. :emoji_thinking:

Upset stomach?

Am I the only one who just folds over the sheet of paper to double the layer?

Not an easy one, lots of ways to prevent your fingers in the treacle.
