With many new players due in the next few weeks I thought it would be a good idea to have one thread to update and have on record how our first XI progresses as it is strengthened week on week.

Currently, I think most would agree (subject to the three signing new deals) our first XI if we played tomorrow would look something like this:

----------------------Burge----------------------
Phillips--------Willis-----Johnson------Stokes
-----------JOB------Thomas------Fleck---------
---------------------Maddison--------------------
-----------G Thomas-----------Tudgay----------

Much work to do!! Let's see how it changes over the coming weeks......

I don't think it needs too much more. We need 1, maybe 2 strikers, a centre back, centre midfielder and a winger as a minimum. After that it's adding depth/extra quality across the board. I expect to see a lot more of Maddison next year.

I agree, as a minimum we need 5 players in addition to above:

Centre half
Centre mid
Two strikers
Left winger

If we manage to get 5 in and they come of, are consistent and injury free it would be great. However, history shows a couple won't work out, so will perhaps need 7-8 in on the assumption 2 won't work out...

He has got rid of 8 players. So just bringing in the same amount of players and a few loans could give him a completely new 1st team. Then leave the present players to fight for a place although I think Maddison will play a bigger part this season whilst giving Tudgay a main role.

Keeper is priority for me. I like Burge and I think he could be a number 1 for us potentially but not this season.

I predict that as every player is signed over the coming months, we will see a new team sheet posted assuming that he, along with all other signings, will be starters - with the possible exception that the news story tells us he is 16 and bought to grow.

That won't necessarily be the case. Further, expect a couple of loan players very late who walk into the team.

I think most people have more common sense than you give them credit...
