Never thought I'd find myself posting in this part of the forum but here goes!

Went by the Ricoh about an hour ago. There were crowds, full car parks (still a fair bit before kick off), traffic wardens ticketing cars, people looking forward to a sporting event, about 20 away coaches in car park C.

Oh for that to have been a CCFC event

We've had big crowds and we managed to do it without the ground being two thirds full of away fans.

The Wasps Defence League, always on hand to denounce anyone who mentions anything remotely negative towards wasps.

You could say anti franchising and anti sixfields, same people usually.

Anything remotely negative? It's everything totally negative.

I'm not at the game today, actually watched the game doing my ironing on the television, and it was a great game - especially early on. And to see the stadium full, and the pundits and commentators talking about the stadium being magnificent and one of the best in Europe struck me as strange. Wasn't it 'pokey' according to Labovitch?

There are 32K people in there today enjoying their sport, and Coventry is being portrayed positively on a national stage. Again, I'm against Wasps being here, but to constantly hark on about everything being bad is embarrassing.

Oh, and I note the bonds issue, which was scoffed at on the other thread, closed early over subscribed. Another one misjudged by the same posters adept at getting every issue wrong

Personally I'm a member of the PMLAATCFPWWWOCID League.

That's the Pissing Myself Laughing at All The Coventry Fan's Preoccupied With Wasps While Coventry Is Dying League.

Honestly, the Wasps sub forum is full of nutters who don't like it when you point out that they're doing it better than our club like slagging Wasps off somehow makes our situation better. Which of course it doesn't.

They should rename this sub forum the joke section.

Didn't he say the offices were pokey?

Why was it negative to say there were lots more leicester fans than wasps?

Quite funny how people say they are not supporting/against them being here and then go on about how great they are.

Just wondering MMM do you ever post about football anymore? At least when you were going on about Thorn you were actually interested in football.

Honestly, we all know the club is dying, no one is preoccupied with wasps whilst ignoring that. We can hold a number of different positions, thoughts and concerns at the same time.

I'm pissing myself laughing at all those who still have there head in the sand about what the Wasps move means for us (actually I'm not pissing myself laughing because its so depressing but you get the point, I'm expecting this post to be responded with the typical bullshit about how I'm a SISU apologist and have my head in the sand with regards to SISU which isn't true, or it may just be ignored completely)

The number of posters who are as good as mute when it comes to passing judgment on our owners who won't shut up on this sub forum is amusing. If you didn't know better you'd think they're disgruntled, annoyed Wasps fans.

Just like the good number of posters who are mute on any football related or match thread put constantly post about the Ricoh, ccc and wasps. Anyone would question whether they actually like football.

They can't talk about football because they have a tax return or sister's cousin's birthday party that week.

Everybody knows what it means. Just not all off us have our heads in the sand thinking it's what Wasps do next is going to improve our situation. Hence the ones with the head's in the sand have created the reason a CCFC forum has to have a Wasps sub forum so they can sift through every little scrap of news to come out about Wasps to turn it into news that somehow means CCFC's situation is going to improve because it means Wasps are failing. Meanwhile back in CCFC world they laugh, belittle and mock anyone daring to sift through every little scrap of news to come out about CCFC and SISU when 9.9 times out of 10 the news is damaging the club.

Wasps are a very convenient distraction for SISU and some apparently more intelligent posters than me have fell into that trap perfectly.

Tony comes up with the truth. It's excruciating painful to watch grown men praying something fails. Really. There are 32K happy people who have watched a game of sport in Coventry today that's been televised and shown one of the city's assets in a great light. And six embittered men on a message board trying to glorify every bit of bad they can find, or invent in it

It's not the city's asset, it's wasps. It's like saying Old Trafford is one of manchesters assets, it's not. It's Man United's.

It is a cultural asset though.

Alas, the point all players in the tragi-comedy miss.

I like to think I remain sensible on the issue, though I'm sure some will disagree of course.

I don't want Wasps here and I really hope they don't stay. For that to happen they would need to fail here. I will never support them, never consider them a Coventry team and never go and watch them play.

At the same time though I'm sure it is good business for the local economy, it is putting Coventry on the map and is also showing the Ricoh for the great stadium I believe it to be.

I do want Wasps to fail, but can't bring myself to be wishing that they lose every game and supporting whoever they play against. I am still embarrassed by their presence here though.

It's an asset to the city if you work there. Or in the hotel, casino, bars. Or you own or work in one of the pubs or clubs locally who benefit from events like this taking place in our city. Or you're cleaner, steward, or administrator. Still, as long as you're alright, fuck 'em, eh?

Let's hope it fails. Let's hope it fails and these people don't have their jobs any more. Let's hope it fails, so that there can be TV programmes about this White Elephant on the edge of Coventry, as opposed to the glowing terms in which it was referenced to a national audience today
