I will concede that they have better footballers than us. We are a better more consistent team.

Honestly they played us probably at the best time (especially at match at the end of Dec). If they played us now, I think we may be able to get at least a draw. Anyway, just glad we got those games out of the way and hope either Millwall or Boro make the autos along with us. Don’t want Ipswich to go up automatically.

What would be more interesting is, who put a bet on at the beginning of the season for us to win the league.

And at what odds.

I’ve had a pretty hefty bet the last 3 years spread across us winning the league & finishing top 2 & top 3 didn’t do it this year

If it was closer, yes. I’ve had months to prepare myself for the moment. It’s more an expectation that we’ll win the league now whereas top 4 would’ve been a great

It’ll be a full circle moment for most supporters of my generation. It was mostly shit until Robins came along (both spells) and ever since, it’s been a dream and Lampard has took it to the next level and in doing so, well and truly redeemed his career with us.

I have had lots of highs and lows supporting Coventry City. These past few seasons have brought back some great feelings and long may they continue. I was there in May 1967 and god willing I will be there in May 2026. As for lows, I remember when Leicester won the Premier League and thinking we will never be able to compete with them again. How the footballing gods play with our emotions. It seems if Coventry City win a major trophy the gods deem one of our rivals has to suffer. Will Leicester go the same way as Villa in 1987. Time will tell. Meanwhile, let’s all enjoy the ride. It doesn’t get much better in footballing terms.

Unbelievable really. The fucking shite we’ve had to deal with for so many years, and the many times where it just seemed like the circumstances were just so stacked against us (sisu, wasps, council, ground shares) that we would never ever ever be back.

And fucking look at us

Drink it in. Makes me very sad to live abroad, but glad this place allows me to stay part of it.

Even if you’re all cunts most of the time

from the Ipswich board :-

Today is the day they have decisively moved out of our reach. We may have beaten them twice but they've been much more consistent than us, well done to them.

fair comment from them.

It’s surreal and not sunk in, but also because we’ve been on the cusp of it for some time doesn’t feel like it’s really hit me. Don’t think it will until it’s sewn up.

Having supported Cov since 1978 - I have to say the real turning point for me was when we won at wembley in 2017 - yes there were some real lows after that - but it just felt that we were going to finally turn a corner and something felt a bit different.

I’ve cried already when we beat Boro so I’m definitely going to lose it big time. Apologies in advance to those around me in block 16. I think a few will be crying too mind. Just a question of whether it’s refined tears or full on sobs

I just know I’m going to be a blubbering mess. The highs and (many well documented) lows having supported the club for over 40 years….I can’t wait for promotion to be secured. I just hope it’s done at home, so the magnificent SBA can celebrate as one ⚽️🩵

A surreal and incredible feeling as 25 years of mostly unmitigated crap is on the verge of being put to rights. If I could bottle it up I would, as it is I’ve stowed it all away in the footballing wank bank as and when things get tough next season.

People all around me just staggered at half time all saying ‘this doesn’t happen to clubs like us’ and almost struggling to believe it. The bigger the struggle the sweeter the success. Savour it and don’t forget it.

At this point, the only people with any kind of doubts we are going to do it are within our fan base. That's what happens after literally an entire generation length has gone by with turmoil followed by more turmoil.

The last few years have been good, but we've also had our fair share of bad luck at crucial moments. Play off final, cup semi-final, etc.

Everyone else outside thinks we've done it, and we basically have. What, two more wins needed maybe? It is frankly unbelievable. I am so fucking proud to be a Coventry fan right now. We should all try and consciously remember these moments. These are our days in the sun (until we qualify for Champions League).

Was out yesterday for a pre-birthday celebration and watched the match on my phone in a wine bar, like the utterly classy gentleman that I am. Very silently celebrating each goal followed by a glug of fine Rioja, happy days are fucking here again.

Grimes scored and I nearly cried. One of those moments in football where you'd consider it a dull cliche if it was in a film, but for me just sums up this ridiculous, incredible season. The best season of all of our lives, what we've all wanted so desperately since that horrible day in May 2001 and so many of us had long accepted would never happen. It's done. It's happening. The rest of this season is one long party and then it's time to prepare for our round on the highest stage.

Just tried to soak it all in yesterday. We have had ridiculously cruel playoff defeats in 2 of the last 3 seasons, watching other fans celebrate like mad, sandwiched by VAR cheating us at Wembley of the greatest Cup comeback of all time.

It felt like it would just never happen for us. Realising that actually it’s about to is pretty emotional.

For me, the turning point came the following season but Wembley ‘17 showed that we still had the potential to be a “big club” and that SISU hadn’t quite managed to kill us off!

Leicester actually went the same way as Villa in 1987 in 1987. I started working in Leicester just before we began our FA Cup winning run, Leicester got relegated. Happy days indeed

Was in Vincent’s bar (Everton bar) yesterday in Benidorm.
Sweet talked the managaress into putting it on one of the screens for me.
All the scousers were shaking my hand and saying welcome back. Mind you they were 3-0 as well so were pissed and happy.
But I checked my pockets when I left and my money was still there, so they might have been genuine.

Let’s face it, if you took any of our teams from 2000 to 2017, and put them in the position we’re in now, they would blow it.

That creates a lingering doubt in the minds of the fanbase

It’s strange, but at the time the trip to Wembley in 2017 felt to be like a send off. The club was winding down after 135 years, we were just a few seasons off from extinction. Wembley was the goodbye

I'll still be nervous until we have it in the bag but enjoying the games slightly more as we go. I'm obviously delighted that it appears we will be going up. I watch every match home and away on Ifollow at the moment and am now starting to wonder what my match day experience is going to be like... Am I going to have to go back to listening to the radio like it's the 90s?!?!
