Really enjoyed the first episode and Tim Roth is excellent in it.

Very watchable because of the leads, but quite ridiculous at times and completely pushing the boundaries of believability.

Bondesque style villains and laughable coincidences of timing have you shaking your head.

Some of the time shifting is annoying too. From present to 4 hours previous to 6 hrs previous, back to present and then back 2 hrs previous again.

As I say though, Tim Roth is brilliant.

Now on episode 4 of 10.

Where is it available?
One of my favourite actors.

I think it is sky or sky Atlantic?

Sky Atlantic.

Worth watching I would say. Stylised and very well acted for the most part.

Already renewed for a second season.

Don't tempt me!!! I'll have Hill all over me like a rash.

Will put it in a spoiler.

Roth plays the chief of police in a small Canadian town. He has moved with his wife and son and daughter from London.

He is an alcoholic though with a bad temper when he's drunk and someone who doesn't believe the rules are for him and he goes round ruffling a lot of feathers, making enemies on the way, especially a major oil company looking to muscle their way onto his territory.

Well worth watching I would say, just for Roth's performance alone. I found a few ,'ohhhh pleaassssseeee!' moments, especially early on, but the performances hold it together to keep you glued. Well, some of them anyway.

Watched it in 4 days, really enjoyed it. Agree there are some daft moments - a bit Coenesque, but very good nonetheless.

Yep into this one - they do take a bit of time for my wife to get into which is dodgy as she would rather watch masterchef - but he is going to get violent at some point !

Perhaps they could surprise us when Christina Hendricks gets her boobs out - been waiting all the way through madmen - drove me wild

Yeah, worth it, Houch, just for Roth's performance alone.

That's one reason why I just might watch. I love Tim Roth as an actor. He can be so creepy!

I've given up on it, it's so weird and all over the place as if some members of the cast and crew are making a different type of show and nobody's told anyone.

Yeah, get that. It steadies itself though. I got the feeling they went with some directors who wanted to do their own thing and didn't read the rest of the scripts bar their own individual episode.

Completely differing styles at times, but after a few episodes it settles down a bit.

Watched the first episode on the way home last night on the coach! Thought it was brilliant!
Have the next 5 days off work so hoping I’ll find plenty of time to complete the box set!!

The first couple of episodes were very good, the third one irritated me (I can't stand that type of episode) and the fourth one nothing actually happened. Maybe the next one will pick up else I'll probably not bother with the rest.

I watched the first episode then gave up. It just jumps from pillar to post with no real backbone as to what's happening.

Remind what the third one is. Is that the one that jumps all over the place?

Yep, thats the one. I've seen plenty of shows try it and it's always cheesed me off. On top of the constant jumping back in time, If I know what happens at the end of the episode right from the off I'm going to struggle to remain interested for the next 55 minutes.

Yep. Totally agree. That episode is weird, because you would think that was the tone and style of the whole piece, but it isn't. It's out of keeping with the rest of the series.

On ep5 now! It’s good! Just seems like it’s going to be who can murder the most people before they get to one another (the cop and the young lad)

Just on last episode.

Has got a bit silly towards the end like with the woman cop still working despite being shot in the shoulder, and the bloke from Coronation St (Frank) running from the car, getting shot, forcing his way into someone's house for another set of car keys while armed, the home owner throws the keys at him :emoji_sweat_smile:

It's very silly in places and the change of the young lad from psychopathic weirdo, to almost normal boyfriend lad material is quite ridiculous.

Hoping it will settle down in season two.

avoided this thread until I finished it which I did last night, quite enjoyed it though not as good as a couple of my mates were making out.
I thought the kid who played Whitey as a child was the stand out performer albeit he was only in one episode.

Does anyone here know which famous movie was originally called "The Tin Star"?

I think the fact that they have commissoned a second series spoils the ending of the first - i.e (trying to avoid spoiler) you now know what happens/didn't happen to the main character.
