No, he forgot about a defence and a midfield,oh and a goal scorer, apart from that he’s given him everything he needs

Nonsense though ain’t it. We’ve spent ballpark £12m on defenders since he came in. Simms and Wright about £11m and delivered last year.

What is the main difference between last season and this season? Within that lies your answer.

I think as a group they’re weak yeah. I think we’re lacking key talents as well as personalities. I think we need at least two players into the squad, possibly more.

This.
When was the last time he pulled off a tactical masterpiece?
Was it sending Ben Wilson up for that stoppage time corner away at Blackburn?

Really don’t see what the club’s history from 5+ years ago has got to do with where we’re meant to be heading. If people want to go back to sharing grounds and having crowds of 8,000 then fair, but I don’t see how that’s going to help us get promoted.

Bad defence you can get away with if your scoring, problem is midfield helps both, sheaf and Eccles getting found out, miles away from where we need to be,

You could argue that the wheels came off when Lawrence left. Adi was still here in that really poor league run in at the end of last season.

He was on his way in reality, talks of that nature don't stay silent I don't think?
Just noticed if that player was off the pitch in the goalmouth does that make the Preston player offside for the goal?

Because Robins hasn’t gone from the best manager of my lifetime to this for no reason. And whether Viveash had to go or not, what’s replaced him and Lawrence has been pure garbage. Even the rumoured assistant was uninspiring. And when Robins goes that’s it. The last of the stuff that made us what we’ve been following the last seven years. And I don’t think anyone has any faith in King, who has walked into the biggest transfer kitty this club has ever seen combined with one of the best coaching setups the club has had and fucked it one obvious noob to the sport decision after another.

Robins might need to go. But I dread what comes next. And if it’s not going to be shite it’s going to have to be without Doug sticking his nose in because that never works.

I have no Idea what age you are but I can assure you Robins is not the best manager the club has had in my lifetime ,at a push (and after much thought) I would say Gordon Milne was the best manager the club has had in my 57 years as a supporter ,seven years at the club (similar to Mark Robins) and all in Division one.(I was a climbing over the wall to sneak in as a Hillfields street urchin during the Jimmy Hill years tbh)
He did a fantastic job and after leaving the Club and had a career that Mark Robins could only dream of.
In terms of being gutted when a manager was sacked?....well that's an easy answer I was really upset when Dave Sexton lost his job he was a fantastic coach and brought through some fantastic youth team players into the first team ,he also had the good sense to sign Gerry Francis in the twilight of his career to marshall the young players on the pitch (played 50 games for us).... none of our current midfielders are anywhere near his class....( always find it odd he's never mentioned has a past great player tbh).
People of my age are probably spoilt to be fair because we (maybe) had the best of it,and without any shadow of doubt got to see some players of a quality that we just don't currently have.
I had a season ticket for 34 consecutive years, don't miss many home games but never travel to away games these days.
I really hope the Club can reach the promised land of the Première league for all the loyal fans that the club now has,I tip my hat tbh to the fantastic support the club now has... many of whom post on here.
PS: not answered the Mark Robins question, I think it's time for a change but hope he stays at the club in some capacity,he deserves that.

we’ll agree to disagree on Milne being the best manager in 60 years, but the point about Gerry Francis is very pertinent, I’d say that type of experience is exactly what we need just now.

Tbh I debated with myself re Gordon Milne but decided he was a fair comparison with Mark Robins who has done a fantastic job in all honesty but as is life nothing lasts forever.

It is not even difficult to figure out. There is absolutely no leadership on the pitch, none of our players seem to have learnt the dark arts or even get a bit rough, most of them are too small, and AV should be at MR's side still.
Maybe King should sell out to that Ex Newcastle guy who owns the stadium.
I still back MR anyhow. All teams have shite years.

Anything less than 4 points from the next 2 and it’ll be the end, I think, from King’s perspective.

We’ve had a number of very poor performances this year, but I do not put todays in that category. We were in the game, made plenty of chances and for large parts were reasonably tight at the back. However, squandering a number of good chances along with falling asleep at the back and letting in yet another soft goal turns what could have been a spring board to a bed wetting experience.

TBH I’m most concerned about the number of soft goals we’ve let in, if we can’t keep a clean sheet it is so much harder to get anything out of the game. We’re getting in good positions up front but just don’t have any clinical finishers at the moment. I do feel this will come over the next few weeks.

As to defence I think we look better with 3 central defenders, but might take a few games to bed in and get a better understanding between them. It’s a shame MVE looked a little off today, perhaps he also needs a game or two to get back to his best in a 5-3-2?

I certainly do not think anyone should be screaming for Robins out yet. The margins between win and loose were small today, we came off on the wrong side, if goal not disallowed and just one of our shots on goal had been better we would be having a different talk tonight.

we only had one shot on goal…so best case it would’ve been 1-1

that’s like saying if we hadn’t conceded 2 against Sheffield Wednesday, or if we’d scored another against Watford
