Time to forget about sisu... (1 Viewer)

Yesterday those of us who were there witnessed the Coventry City we've longed for for so long and the reason we've hung in there. But we need to get the fans back, and the first stepping stone is in place if we want to move forward from here...so it's time to forget about sisu...time to stop them renting far too much space in our heads. I never went to a single game at Northampton, have never supported sisu in any way, but to continue thinking about them, giving them any credibility of power, which is what we do by staying away, has to stop. They are there, but as the team become more successful, they will recede into nothing more than a feint background noise. But for that to happen we have to stop the battle with them and leave them punching thin air, and eventually they will go away, because we know how they like a fight!! C'mon guys, what a great club we support! We are not sisu, we are Coventry City Football Club.

I doubt anybody had sisu or politics in general during the same yesterday in their heads.

We were celebrating every block we made like it was a goal. When the final whistle went nobody jumped about because they thought fair play sisu. They had just seen us beat a team full of internationals, our players fight until the end when they were dying on their feet. It was purely about football.

I keep saying it, but that's the only time fans are going to unite when it's about love for ccfc rather than hate for anybody else and everybody in the ground did.

I'd absolutely love to, but the problems will come back round again.

Give it a few weeks and they'll let us down.

Yesterday was what it must be like for other supporters who follow normally run clubs. We all enjoyed it. One day that will be the norm.

It depends if you want to listen to people who will push and spin negativity over and over again day in day out. If you believed everything you would think joy had got the year wrong on the kids Christmas card to spite everybody.

Personally ,I think they are welcome to stay quiet in the background (as opposed to trying to take credit). We will enjoy things like yesterday and Wembley because it's ccfc, not because of them.

People were already trying to take the shine off yesterday going on about sisu and politics straight away, can only think they weren't at the game because I doubt any of that was in people's minds walking away from the ground.

Wow so we win one game and all is hunky dory.
I Can't forgive or forget but that doesn't stop me supporting the team, just hurts to see what they have done to us.
So if I can rant and rave at them I will don't care if it makes a difference or not but it makes me feel better, and sooner or latter they may get the hint and fuck off.

That's the point. All that matters is on the pitch.
The better the performance on the pitch the more the owners drop into the background.
There will always be a nasty taste for me though with Sisu so the less they are mentioned the better it is.
Just wish the legals were out the way so they can disappear altogether.

From the other angle, owners of football clubs are on a hiding to nothing.
\You can invest a fortune in a team but if it goes wrong the fans forget about that pretty quickly.
Just for the record I don't see Sisu as investing in the team but just initially trying to get a quick profit and it going tits up pretty quickly.

We all want SISU out but yesterday was all about the game. The feeling of beating a Premier League team is great, and leaves you wanting more. But if SISU left that feeling of Joy,pardon the pun, would be even greater !

Don't think he means everything is amazing, more like people are so obsessed with SISU and finding everything they possibly can to be angry about in terms of CCFC that they forget about what it is they are angry for, which is the football.

I'm happy to enjoy the football a bit more these days, but it doesn't take much for it to all change.

2 years ago I was in the same boat, but of course SISU (arguably) let us down in the transfer market and then we ended up going down later.

It really wouldn't surprise me if come the end of the season we're back to square one having failed to get promoted.

Yesterday’s win garantees a small but perhaps unexpected cash windfall right in the middle of the transfer window, I’m not suggesting splashing it all on buying players but wages wise it could allow MR to loan in a more established player or two on higher wages until the end of the season. In my opinion we need a couple more to try and cement a top three slot. This is where our owner can show its colours and attitude towards the team

2 years ago we had Mowbray bring in 8 or 9 players in the winter transfer window with none actually leaving the club. (apart from that lad from West Brom I think it was). Nobody really mentions that.

That's not saying they are amazing, far from it but again with social media etc everything gets whipped up.

Not everything has been SISU's fault, but they, and the board members they find, have barely made a good decision from the moment they came in.

I blame Mowbray as much as SISU for 2 seasons ago, but I blame SISU/board for most of the problems last season.

Of course we will be at the Ricoh, if we aren’t we won’t exist there is nowhere to go and being currently third halfway through the season puts us in a strong position for promotion we need a couple more better loanees in to cement that but we needed that before in previous seasons but it never happened did it this is what fans remember

We have just signed a couple of loanees, one of them made his debut yesterday and looked like he was a player we could have done with sooner.

What people don't remember or think about is that Jones, Andreu, Vincenti and other injured players all still need paying too.

We needed bodies in when Mowbray was doing well, he brought in about 8 new bodies which turned out not very good, surely 2 or 3 slightly better would have worked nicely?

But injuries are part and parcel of football and bringing players in always a gamble in the case of Jones and Andreu and Vincenti for that matter their wages have been budgeted for this cup money is extra as I said perhaps unexpected. In our 1967 promotion year we used about 15 players all season. Jimmy Hill brought 2 in after Xmas Right winger Barry Lowes who flopped and midfielder Brian Lewis who was very instrumental in our promotion and you are correct Mowbray ballsed up his loan opportunity but atleast he had the chance. Robins should have the chance, I believe promotion is absolutely crucial and for it not to happen given the position we are now in will effect future gates

It's now or never for promotion. If we don't go up this year the budget will be cut again and we don't have a Wembley windfall this season too boost funds. Robins seems to have it sorted on the pitch that we are very competitive despite the injured key players. Unfortunately there are 10 other competitive teams. As for Shitsu this rumoured shortfall in the budget is a worry. We will see how many players are sold and which ones during this window. Hopefully another Prem team in the next round will see the shortfall vanish.

Don’t believe the Rubbish rumours shortfall in budget. If Robins gets in another transfer or two between now and end of transfer window will show we still have room for manoeuvre.

Realistically like any other club, I wouldn’t be surprised if we did sell a player. Only for the right fee, and in positions where we can possibly afford to offload a player ie central defence.

Possibly only Davies, McDonald or Willis.

I honestly believe if we had kept any of Reda,Turner or Stephen's fit for the season and kept Kent we would of gone up automatically.

Should Sisu matter today? My opinion is that rather than going over old shit yet again surely we should bask in the afterglow of a great win yesterday?
I want Sisu gone as much as anyone but even I can see that the transfer window during Mowbrays spell was not down to them. They signed Joe Cole who would not have been cheap from October and brought in Ramage, Hunt, Henderson who would have cost more than an average Division 3 wage.
If you are so bitter that the hatred for Sisu is the only thing that you can see then you may not have noticed that we are 3rd in Division 4, just beat Stoke City in the FA cup and are seeing the flowering of our home grown players and our fans should be walking about today with pride, something that doesn't happen too often.
Its not time to forget about Sisu but it is time for those that support Coventry City to do just that.

Will it happen? No, because too many fans will find it hard to forget, among other issues.

There is no doubt that the players and the Manager deserve the best support possible for the rest of the season, home and away to aid our promotion push.

Yesterday was amazing in terms of atmosphere, you could see blocks 16-20 reacting to the atmosphere in 14, it was fantastic to see and the players responded to that.
