This will probably be my last post on this forum I am so disillusioned

I never thought I would say this

I have supported the sky blues, since I could walk - starting at Highfield Road in 1963, moved away now but even now cant believe I am saying this, never ever thought we would get to this point but everyone has been taking money out of the club since the Mid-70's and its finally come home to roost

I really cant take this slow death of the club that is still dear to my heart, we will never get back to a fit and proper club with all the debts we are saddled with, with the Council/ACL taking there 'pound of flesh' and SISU trying to make a business of whats left

Truth is I live 180 miles away and cant be bothered anymore to drive up to see whats left of the club, to put my money into a lost cause, to pay SISU Hedge Fund managers, to pay the money grabbing vultures that are ACL/Coventry Council - they should all rot in hell as far as I am concerned !

The only people that make the club are the fans and for 10 years or more they have been shafted by people who dont love the club but want to make money from the business

Its time to take liquidation, tell Coventry Council/ACl to shove it and see what they can do with the White elephant they own (Ricoh Arena) and for the club to be set up from scratch for the fans, in whatever division the FA put us in and start all over again, without any debts and run by people that love the club and fans that just want CCFC to rise again.

So lets start again with 'Coventry Pheonix Football Club', based in 'The Butts' gates of 6,000 genuine fans with 'real' money invested and climb back up the divisions over the next 10 years back to where the great club belongs and fu*k the council

Rant Over - anyone got any better ideas?

Blue Square I would reckon we get around 3,000 - 4,000, which would be absolutely fantastic for that level of football.

After that it would all be dependent upon success.

Climbing back to wherever we belong from ground zero in 10 years is quite a reach, when you consider how many teams are relatively healthy and completely failing to do the same.

It's nice as a romantic ideal, but as actual reality? I don't see it. I'd be flabbergasted if the majority of people who like the idea of starting a new club stuck with it in any way.

I really think a city of 250,000 plus the local area would be able to get gates of 6000 at the butts to watch a football match, with ticket prices of about £10, especially if the light at end of tunnel was quick promotions up the divisions and into league 2 - you underestimate the real fans that would support the club whatever division they were in, I would certainly be more likely to attend than I amnow if i knew my money was going to the club, rather than the money grabbing shi**s that are involved with the club now

to want to do that would imply that people think we can move up the leagues

to move up the leagues would imply we would need some success

CCFC and Success go hand in hand like SISU and rent payments

I don't underestimate the fans, I just don't believe they're there. People quickly turned away from a team in the league, I really can't see the dark waters of non-league appealing past the novelty of reclaiming the club from money men.

Do think people are neglecting the fact here too that this talk is only in terms of there no longer being a Coventry City Football Club.

If there was no club!

I honestly believe fans would support a new club that rose from the ashes.

Didn't the new Man U club that was formed after the Glazier thing get crowds of well over a thousand at first? And that was in conjunction with Man U still going.

The AFC Wimbledon club too got good support and you have to remember Wimbledon FC got very poor crowds before they folded.

Me too - doubt I will ever go back to the Ricoh - but a new club, at a new ground, run by real Coventry people - would definately be there and would even consider a season ticket even with the 340 mile return journey to the matches, wouldnt bother me what level of football it was as long as the pride was back !

The amount of people disgusted at leaving Highfield Road, I have trouble believing that more people wouldn't be disgusted about the club itself disappearing altogether. Rage at the owners may pique interest in whatever this new protest club is, but sustained interest? Can't see it.

Truth be told we've been living off borrowed time (or should I say money) for ten years - I count myself among the deluded that thought a return to the big time was inevitable and all this pain and heart-ache would be worth it - even as recently as just a few weeks back under the stewardship of for once a decent manager in MR - area final of the JPT looming and good runs in the league believed the play-offs were our destiny this year - obviously this is all crashed about us and by the look's of it there is precious little hope of any sort of meaningful revival

The skyblue tinted glasses have finally come off and reality has dawned for me - our club as it was and I so hoped it would become again is no more

It's getting boring! You don't know the personal circumstances of these 20,000 fans do you?

Let's leave that issue alone...

As for your question, I would rather fight for the club we have now rather than liquidate 125 years of history just to oust SISU, ACL & the Council.

When it becomes inevitable, then we look at other options.

Until then we fight with all we've got to keep it going.

That was largely my point. The implication that at least you'd just get 'genuine' fans with this theory, as if that'd make it all worthwhile. I'd give up completely if the club folded, I don't care where that places me on the authenticity scale.

Richie - yes that is the only downside - to lose 125 years of history would be tragic

Unfortunately thats where football is going with Money Men/ Sky Sports/ Arab Owners etc running English Football -m History means nothing to them, SISU dont give two hoots about our history, they wish they could bale out but they cant, they were sold a dud and they know it, first chance they get they will go

Remember there are a number of football clubs that have been and gone - nothings forever especially now that football is just a business !

no chance of a new club lets just get the one we have now into a proper footing agree a rent figure and get on with building a winning team not that hard to do with the right peeps in charge.We don't have them at pres get sisu out and someone in who will.And don't say there's nobody else as there surely will be given the chance

I dont want to support Hastings FC, I have been to see them but they are not my team - I was born in Coventry , I have supported them all my life, in previous seasons i went at least 8 Home games and probably 6 or 7 away games, I spent about £1000 per season supporting my home team (Coventry), easy for fans in Coventry to go to the match but they still dont, yet still some die hard fans from all around to country make the effort to get to as many matches as they can afford because they support the club from the City they were born in

DO NOT ACCUSE ME OF NOT WANTING THE BEST FOR CCFC

If we set up as a new team , i would make the effort because the fact there name has changed from Coventry City Football Club to Coventry Pheonix Football Club wouldnt make a difference to me , they would still be my team

I dont think dropping out of the leagues is likely - even Glasgow Rangers only went into the 3rd Division in Scotland. A more likely scenario is that we go bust and a new set of owners come in and we start again with a 10 point deduction.
Unfortunately for you guys I see us remaining at The Ricoh as we have no other ground available that would meet league standards within the Coventry catchment area.
I understand that you are feeling pissed off as do I but why should we give up our hard earned league status simply because the people running the club at the moment (and previous owners) have made a hash of things?
I can guarentee that they wont be here in 10 years but I would like to think that people like us who support the club most certainly will!

Hi this is my first post here,i think our attendances no matter what level we are at would not drop below 6-7000 ,depending on the stadium size of course.
i agree that starting again as a club is starting to look an increasing posibility.

I regularly come back to my city, my best friend lives in Bulkington and my Nans & Grandads are buried at Canley crem, and despite what everyone else says I stilll love the Coventry I left 30 years ago, all City's the size of Coventry have their issues but.......................... we still have 2 Cathedrals (One to Spare?)

Yes it would save travel costs, but i dont mind the cost of the travel if the team I support was set up right and was being run by Coventry people for the benefit of the Coventry supporters rather than as a failing business (like the old days of Highfield Road and Derrick Robins etc)

Please dont think that not coming to the Ricoh is easy, i have been to a couple of matches but it is really hard now to feel the enthusiasm I once had and as I said at the start I am really finding the current situation difficult to deal with, true Coventry Fans do not deserve this !!

Hi welcome.

We already have crowds below that figure this season in cup tied against lower league opposition.

If a new team was formed it would have to rely on conference voting and accepting the club in. Of not it could be down to a level such as Arsley town. In that instance the club would have zero identity to the current one and would attract 1,000 or so die hards.

We have some strange fans who seem hell bent on alienating all the fans between the ones that go presently and the ones who don't go at the moment, no thought about all the previous years many of us who when young free and single could afford, and had the time, to gallavant around the country following our much loved skyblues.
Circumstances change for all of us, the young ones now calling the older non ever present fans names like "not true fans" have'nt a bloody clue.

If you have kids and a mortgage and after paying all the bills and then putting clothes on there kids, and food on the table ,and then still have enough to go and watch the team then well done, the ones who can't are extremely envious of you.

We all have times of struggle, or like i said we just can't afford to go every game, so we have to pick the ones we can, but the ones who go every game please don't question our loyalty or even our passion. My father took me when i was 5 years old and i have lived every minute of every game since then,wether i'm at the game or not.

Yes i followed them home and away with my dad for 25 years, but then i got married and had kids so they must be priority and anything left i'll spend on Cov, but i love this club as much as anyone else on this site, so please can the gobshites calling us phoney fans shut the feck up and concentrate on shouting that extra hard for those of us who can't get to every game, but are probably, like me ,listening on skyblue player as thats all we can afford at the moment

Now at last one of my two kids have left home and the other a year away from leaving , i will have much more time and money spare to come back to the Ricoh much more regularly, so please show some understanding to the ones who can't get to every game.Its swings and roundabouts, but family has to come first ,then when they go we can restart the galavanting again

Over the past RIcoh years it has been a struggle. It must be frustrating from any viewpoint. My cousin lives in Norfolk,sees us play every couple of years but still has sky blue blood. We all have memories of when it was best for us.....

I think the Ricoh is a fine stadium. It is a pity we have not had the success for the crowds to come back.

Truly depressing viewpoints from people with a tendency to be pessimistic all the time.
It's all very well in hindsight but I have said it before and say it again....be careful what you wish for.

For every Coventry City there are more in the wings suffering. More that have gone belly up in recent times and come back successfully (Southampton)

This has been a difficult time and I know there is a solution but getting the parties to accept that is another matter.

It was OK when Ranson rescued us so why all of a sudden have we been bled dry by successvive owners as the OP suggest? Have SISU not invested some £35- 40m? Like it or not you must keep on point.

I dislike SISU's practices with a vengeance but I see a way forward and they are still our best hope and we are not regardless of what you may think in such a terrible place at the moment if a deal gets done.

For goodness sake let some of the off field shenanigans be left to those in the hot seat, don't believe all you read and drop the pessimism just a little and support your team on the field.

I'm going to break out the violins in a minute for all you so called supporters forever attacking your club. The situation we are in is due to a series of events with many different people partially responsible. It's not an overnight thing and there are many currently who do not help the club either and seem intent of hurting the club and I mean the council and ACL in that. SISU are doing enough hurt too but keeping us alive and both sides will have to get together and sort it eventually. There's no other logical conclusion.

I think the number of fans blows your argument out of the water really. If you'd said 500 or a 1000 fans or something then fair enough. But 20000? Nah, circumstances nothing to do with it.
