Am I right in thinking it’s only Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship who have been out of it longer?

Or if you don't think football started on 15 August 1992.

Preston haven’t been in the top flight since the 60s have they?

The Premier league was quite specific in the question tbh

Would've thought Millwall might be close

I wasn't knocking your answer, it's correct. It's just a bugbear of mine.

Forest and Ipswich must have spent a good time out of it until recently? Hope!

I think Ipswich were relegated 2002, Forest were relegated before us in 1999. It would have been Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and then us.

Sheffield Wednesday were relegated the season before us but there are still a handful that have never been in the Premier League. Preston, Millwall, Bristol City, Plymouth and Oxford I think.

So Plymouth are the only team of the 24 who have not been in the top flight.

I think Plymouth are probably the biggest city never to have had a top flight team. It was Hull for a while but they crashed and burned pretty quickly and the natural order of things was restored.

I made the point before that out of all 72 EFL clubs, the ones who regularly pull in 20k plus fans have all played in the PL for at least one season since 2010.

With the only exceptions being Coventry City, Sheffield Wednesday, and Bristol City

I remember that game. I think it was one of those where they weren't technically down, but it would've took a miracle at that point

Same year as Weds wasn't it... but don't go down that rabbit hole on which team was relegated / won the cup in 88!

Technically they were relegated with a 3-3 at Highbury a week later but we all but relegated them.
