Bad news?

So you thought it would happen and gave grief to anyone who said it was too small and gave various reasons.

No I never said it would happen. It was Mr Sharo himself who said that it wasn't too small.

For a small ground. He knows what he wants. Fisher wants to have something that looks like it is happening. Like the speedway track or a certain amount of miles from Coventry until the FOI questions showed him to be lying aboutthat also. Maybe talks stopped when money was expected from SISU.

We all know that no more money is getting put into CCFC. So that means no stadium whilst we have SISU.

Doesn't anyone else find it strange that Fisher blamed the supporters for going on the pitch for the Butts not happening straight after it happened just before the owner of the Butts says what the land is for?

It was Mr Sharpe who first mentioned the potential ground share and the capacity capability wasn't it?

Are you saying that you never had a go at anyone for stating the size and location as being a problem?

The plot is good enough for a small ground. A small ground is no good for us.

I never had a go no.

I never said it was realistic either.

I must, however, point out the now owner of the lease says it wasn't too small. He either lied or he didn't.

I thought Sharpe also said that he didn't want the Rugby club rattling around in a stadium that was too large for it - like Darlington.

This all started did it not at some meeting at the rugby club which this was mentioned as a possibility.

The Darlington comment isn't relevant. I'm responding to Astute who believes Sharpe lied when he said the ground could accommodate 25,000

IF there is to be some sort of non-matchday arrangement with BPA already lined up is it such a stretch that other agreements/deals can't be made?

Would you blame him for playing it safe? He hasn't ruled CCFC in, he has however ruled in Cov United men's and ladies, Cov RL and athletics. Do you always have this much trouble taking a hint? Do you need it written in blood or something?

That's right, Cov Utd play on Saturdays as do Cov Rugby, Cov Utd Ladies play on Sunday's as do Cov Bears RL, so where would we fit in, Monday nights?

I'm sure Cov Rugby Club are smart enough to look after their own destiny, working with selected partners. The question for them will be.......
1. Why would we want to do business with CCFC/SISU who have a track record of litigation against its partners and non payment for contracted services ?
They are rebuilding in a managed, sustainable way.....I'm sure they don't need the potential risk and disruption that doing business with SISU brings.

Yep, it was a perfectly timed protest..for Fisher. Gives him an easy out now. "It was the fans who killed it..."

Of course, it wouldn't take much to trip him up on it, but he wont care about that. He will probably make some vague reference to it being "the site he had been negotiating on recently". and so now he's having to start looking for suitable land again...

Did you ever say it wasn't realistic?

Did you ever mention what sort of ground we could build?

The new owner of the lease knows exactly what we would need as a football team? Just like we would know what a rugger club that we know nothing of would need.

I find it strange that those that had a go at those of us being realistic about the size and location of Butts have now gone quiet. Just take a look at the Butts thread. What a joke.

In reality the Rugby Club just played along a bit to strengthen Tim's hand regarding the Ricoh. If there is a row with Wasps CCFC have a place to go as a temporary measure which, with a bit of temporary standing or seating, would be able to get at least the crowds we got in Northampton. John Sharpe knows what he wants and a SISU owned company is probably not in his plans for stadium usage.

Did Sharp present an outline plan of a 25000 stadium to prove his point?

No.

He's not interested. Couldn't give a toss. Just went along a bit, but now he's got the head lease he can get on with what he wants to do.

Maybe they'll be some shared training or social facilities- but there will never be a 25000 stadium at the Butts.

I didn't say 'bluff', you did. Tim let it slip originally that CCFC was going to be our new home, as Les reported, and Sharp went a long with it for a bit. But his 'Darlington, comparison showed that he wasn't really behind it.

They are looking to build and expand sympathetically with the site. I can see another stand going up with corporate facilities and a health club/gym. The stand would improve facilities for existing rugby fans and improve bar facilities. The health club/gym would benefit the team as well as bringing in extra revenue. The extra corporate facilities would benefit the club as the existing ones sell out already against certain teams.

But can't see them going for 15-25,000 football stadium.

"Playing along a bit"

That is a response to a statement as opposed to being the originator of an idea or statement.

It took an awful long time for that couple of players to arrive though.
Don't think for one minute they give a hoot about cov. Them couple of players are little sweeteners , no more than that.

Yup. Been in cov for 2 years before they loaned them a player. It will be as much as a selfish reason for them (ie giving players competitive games for development) than it is to do CRFC a favour.

Just a guess of course, but I think it will be something like 8,000-10,000 max.

That would be perfect for Cov.

Nothing weird about a businessman who is refusing to discuss CCFC.

It's all about BAD REPUTATION , SISU and Fisher, well have you heard of the saying Reputation goes before you !

Perhaps Mr Sharp wishes to keep his Reputation in intact !

There's a bit more detail In Les Reids peice in local news off topic,
plays on Jon Sharpes non committal stance but sounds like there won't be anywhere near enough development to accommodate a team for this or the league below.

This being the telling quote from JS “I’ve no ideas about what its capacity will be. That will be driven by what we want. I’m not going to plan at the moment.”. That's a pretty definite no if you ask me. It's his vehicle and if we get on board we're there for the ride and the ride only. We have zero influence on this development. That much is clear.

tbf, his statment could be read either way. What he wants may indeed involve SISU... who knows?

I see Les has let Tim off with an "alleged" and "suggested" You do wonder if that had been a council person on CWR last week making those contradicting statements, would Les have focussed a bit more column space on it perhaps??

This is interesting also

"Ultimate decisions will be made by the Coventry rugby club board. The club now has a controlling stake in a new company (Wick View Limited) which has secured the head lease from former Cov rugby player and lawyer Chris Millerchip."

This is a company that was set up by CM last year. The article then goes on to say that JS has the other shares. Does this mean that CM is still involved and has a say? The article goes on to say no but it doesn't sound like he's handing over complete control. I guess we'll know more when companies house has been updated. At the moment it only has CM and his wife listed as people involved in Wick View Ltd.

I would guess that Sharp will have overall control in the end. He owns 40 of the Rugby Clubs 81 shares, and as he has a Company that also holds another share, this will give him over 50%. As you say until Wick View Ltd is updated we won't know.
