Football must be the only industry that makes new customers pay through the nose then slowly extracts less and less cash from their most loyal customers.

These prices are pretty much par for the division (but not amongst cheapest). They do represent quite a hike for us though and it might put a few off.

Just wish the Forest game wasn't cat A. And Stoke City, a cat A game? One week before Xmas too, that's batshit tbf.

Anyhow, hopefully encourages a few more ST holders.

Could be the plan

I can only think the Forest game is listed as Cat A for the occasion. Think that’s an own goal too.

Having the first game back after years away be the most expensive price folks have probably ever been asked to pay for a CCFC home game is a dumb move.

Not really. It'll probably sell a shit load of tickets still if not sell out. If it sells out is it a dumb move?

Makes sense, encourage ST sales and make a crust out of the teams likely to bring big away followings.

It won't sell now. Not with a combination of pricing, being live on TV, shit kick off time and the fact we'll probably have a decent turn out against Wolves the week before. Cat A prices are expensive, especially concessions and under 16s.

I have no major objection to pricing, and the club have to maximise revenues, but would have been nice if they had kept a lid on opening day prices.

They do though Nick, same logic with football fans.

I used to go to 10/15 matches a year before I eventually got a season ticket .

Many people are the same

So you work out the options

Match package
Season ticket etc

The club are pretty good these days at reacting to fan feedback. Pretty sure marketing/comms read SBT (why wouldn’t they?)

They may put out an offer for the Forest game all things considered.

An excellent point. You can’t moan about prices then moan about lack of signings due to lack of money

Cat A games have been chosen on either:
A. How interested our fans will be - teams that have just been in the premier league, local rivals etc.
B. How likely the away team are to bring a good following - If Stoke, for example, would bring 6,000 if we charge £20 or £30 we may as well make an extra £60,00

That is exactly how they categorise games of course, but if Stoke bring more than 1500 one week before Xmas at £30 I'll eat my own shoe.

Might be wrong but isn't another significant change this year the low discount for concessions?

Higher prices doesn't necessarily mean higher budget. Will likely decrease gates for those games from what they would be if £5/£10 cheaper.

Matchday Pricing 2021/22 - Barnsley Football Club

www.barnsleyfc.co.uk

Very few clubs have released matchday pricing, but by comparison Barnsley very steep, with a £2 increase on the day too.

I think most non league teams charge about £10 a game, so great value agreed!

By non league I'm even going by Poole and Wimborne Town, not conference etc!

Maybe they cant afford the initial outlay!

If it's the kids school gear or a pint of beer,
It's a big decision

Mad how people expect to watch Championship football for league 2 prices, Fulham charge 45 quid to sit in their main stand, think yourself lucky its 30 quid wherever you sit for a handful of games.

Yep, that's steep. Just think football is too expensive in this country these days. Season tickets at Bayern Munich start at about £130 (albeit that is only 17 games). Single match day ticket at RB Leipzig starts at £13. (These are adult prices).

Prices are an absolute disgrace and my season ticket will be going in the bin as soon as it arrives in solidarity with those that can’t afford or commit to one

It's a problem with the English game that we've just come to accept it. £45 is ludicrous.

See above, you'd then have to bank on the walk-up attendance being at least 20-33% greater. Given that many of them will be away fans who would willingly pay, you'd have to bank on 50% plus additional walk-up from City fans. Again, the club will have done its analyses.

Doesn't bother me personally, I'll pay regardless (although probably be a match package). It's decent in comparison to other championship clubs too.

Fulham isn't all that expensive in most of the ground, members get £5 off making their ticket prices the same as ours in each category. They also have £20 tickets available for families.

Again, our prices are about right for the division, but sometimes its the clubs you least expect that charge the most. Clubs in Yorkshire known for fleecing fans, Bradford being an exception.

why? All sports charge this. Concerts for premium bands are massive cost. It’s reasonable

You might be right there. I know they had crazy cheap season tickets but now you mention it the matchday prices might have been as high as that..

They sold 18,000 season tickets I think it was in League 1, very impressive whatever the price

So logically if season tickets are still being sold at these prices then there will be more sold
